Cool Anyone here think they got what it takes...
...to voice Duke Nukem?

I don't mean a spoof of Duke, either. I mean is there anyone here with a microphone/headset that could pull off a serious attempt and might be interested in lending their talent down the line? I don't expect exact, and im really looking for someone who can do the attitude first, and the exact voice second... I know there are a couple guys around here(who have tried), so I thought i'd post this out there in the open and see if anyone is interested.

Hey, count me in!! I have done Duke's voice so much better after making that Youtube video listed in my signature. The best takes I did though were recorded on another HD that went bad. Losing them really pissed me off since they were for my second video. But I can, and plan to do it again even better. Check my vid, but remember, they were my first, cold and off the cuff in the first take. Let me know what you think.

I know at least two persons besides Jon who are very capable of making decent/great Duke impressions, could probably even be perfected with some practice...

In fact, check Duke4.net's Duke Nukem soundboard, --not Jon st. John's voice, but good site friend Clint Basinger...

It's not perfect, but he's really good still, probably one of the best i've heard yet... And taking into account that it's simply headset/microphone recordings, and not studio-quality equipment used, it isn't very bad at all really...

Not bad at all! When do you think you'll be uploading/doing your next version? I think with a little work you could be right about there.

Oh yeah, I remember that guy, he's pretty good. Got it fairly close with a lot of the classic lines. Who's the other guy you're speaking of?

He's pretty good. I have a few choices here - though that depends on whether or not they want to, not just can they do it.

Thank you very much!
I was working on another vid that I wanted to really blow away my last one, in the voice area. The reason why I do it in video rather than just my voice over some Duke screenshots is to show that I am in fact doing it. I have done some takes that sound so 'Duke', people wouldn't believe it's me. Unlike the first vid that I just slapped together, I really want to take my time with it. Just so happens that the time was mostly spent on me sorting through all the takes. It was also going to include some new one-liners by me and a few of my faves submitted by members here. (with credits of course!) But a while ago, as I said in my last post, got lost. Now I regret not backing up all that work. Who ever thought, not me, that it would have come in handy for an opportunity like this!
So i'm thinking, rather than have you wait for my next version which I can't say when it will be done, maybe focusing on what you need might be better. You can PM me, or I PM you and give you my e-mail address and tell me what you would like to hear and i'll send you mp3 samples of the recordings. If you have another way to do this, no problem. Whatever's good for you, i'm ready, willing and able.
All I need is a chance, and maybe a week.....

The other guy is GameJunkie form these forums, i heard him once in steamchat when we used voicechat briefly... He imitated Duke pretty closely, it was very cool...

Believe it or not, I got bored once and taught myself how to do a pretty damn accurate Duke voice.
