Re: stuff you DON'T want to see
I don't want to see secrets, secret levels and level stats - those things are too old.

I don't want to see cheap scripted sequences.

I don't want to see cutscenes rendered with the game's engine, I don't want to lose control over Duke even for a second!

I don't want to see tactical crap - such as "escort someone from point A to point B", "protect VIP or protect civillians" and that kinda crap.

I don't want a sidekick or sidekicks.

I don't want to see similarly-looking dark corridors.

I don't want to hear somebody on a radio giving me orders.

I would actually like secrets alot...
I'd dislike a message saying "secret found" though...

I enjoyed the secrets in the Old DN3D, I hope they do something similar except maybe a bit different for modern games and definetly no secret found message

Secret lareas add exploration sense to the game, not a bad thing at all. But for DNF they must be more than small rooms with ammunition and armor.

Stuff like that is cool, As long no message pops up...

I'd like hidden things too... like secret ammo hidden somewhere where it would make sense (or not make sense :P... ammo in a microwave for instance )

What's wrong with you? All three of those are cool! I don't care how old school it might appear, I love having secrets and secret areas to search for. It's what most modern shooters are missing these days imo.

Especially secret levels. It's always fun to find and explore them, especially if you didn't find them the first time.

It's not like you have to find them all. This isn't some Pokemon crap you know.

Actually, connected to that in the don't want to see in "mods" is no mod support. We should be getting as much encouragement to mod DNF as possible. That way we can eventually get that third-party coop mod we all want.

And on that note - I'd also not like to see multiplayer restricted to straight DM. Just look what happened to Muliprey. (on PC anyways)

I meant those little mods like new outfits or new stuff to do. Not major projects.

And no mod support would be terrible .

Hiya Duke fans

* too much sniping - I'd love to pick the tentacles off an octobrain at 200yards as much as the next guy, but duke just isnt a patient guy. sniping isnt his style.

* Heavy vehicle use

* Generic bright red Gibs that dont partialy reform whatever you just rocketed if you slide the bits back together (if you can find them)

* no secrets or level stats - exploration is just part of the whole duke flavour and i want most of that preserved in DNF. Seriously, who didnt love knowing you left some lucky alien behind on your first sweep through? so you could try again and hunt the "scum sucker" down and show him the heel of dukes mighty boot?

I don't want to see RPG elements... at all!

I don't want to search for keys or access cards and shit like that.

I don't want to see puzzle bosses... like the ones in HL.

Also - I hate backtracking through levels.

Why not? For one, cdkey check will be there as was with Prey for multiplayer games. And onlineactivation would decrease the amount of pirated copies, I am more against having to play the media in drive whole the time. So after installation no cd-checks please, substitute them with onlineactivation.

I'm all for it too. As long as there's a sensible offline mode. I couldn't play HL2 for a while because my ethernet card developed problems. The game wouldn't even go in offline mode. That was disappointing because I'd already activated and played the game halfway through. But let's not turn this into a anti-steam discussion.

I don't want to see a short single player mode, for example Prey, a great game which I thought was a little on the short side

And in multiplayer I don't want to see anything more than deathmatch and team deathmatch modes, cept for possibly ctf, or if they come up with some awesome new multiplayer mode

If I need an internet connection to play single player, that's bad mkay? Online Activation is not cool. Better than no copy protection though I guess...

Anyways, I also wouldn't want Hard Gay to be in the game. No explanation - google it yourself. Hooooooo!
