Re: DNF - Multiplayer stuff...
I don't know about the rest of you, but I would like it if they added a co-op; just about everyone else have dm and tdm. Then again I would rather have a great sp experience

Why not resurrect one of the old multiplayer threads? If they're still retreivable, that is.

oh man you knw what would be so funny? They could add this in single player too, after you kill your opponent, if you are nearby a tiolet, you can stick'em in an flush'em down lol.

Re: DNF - Multiplayer stuff...
The hell will multiplay. These days you either make a multiplayer game or a singleplayer game. And only few games can pull of COOP, such as the Novalogic games.
Deathmatch is obsolete and that's Duke's multiplay could offer. |

in return to castle wolfenstein you have immediate respawns! in one level of mohaa (omaha beach) too. that makes it immediately fun so for me, I like any multiplayer with immediate respawns |

Re: DNF - Multiplayer stuff...
Yeah I've played some online BF, which still sort of feels like DM on large scale, even though its supposed to be sort of tactical. But it was still a shitload of fun. The only other multiplayer I've tried was the original doom. Classic DM! So thats quite a big jump in terms of time and gameplay. Deathmatch maybe old but that doesn't mean it still isn't fun. FEAR is supposed to be sort of modernised and slick, and its still the old school style. Simple and just plain old fun, thats DM for you. Might have to play some DM, old school style one day soon, maybe some D3D.

Re: DNF - Multiplayer stuff...
You can try and trick DM as much as you want, but in the end it allways comes down to this:
If it moves, shoot it. If it doesn't move....Shoot it anyway. I really love this DM philosophy |

Re: DNF - Multiplayer stuff...
Excellent. It's simple, and thats what makes it fun. Theres time for technical multiplayer, but theres always time for DM.

Re: DNF - Multiplayer stuff...
Lets be really radical here.
Those amongst us that actually played Duke 3D, both single player, and multiplayer, will remember the things that brought us to love that game, and which made it stand out above the competition. My two cents goes like this:- LEAVE THE F**KING DUKEMATCH ALONE! If you want ctf, play counter strike. If you want assault, play UT. If you want (enter game mode here), play (enter game here). I want the duke just as he was. updated, yes, but just as he was. Duke match was the most fun you could have with your clothes on. |

Re: DNF - Multiplayer stuff...

CTF...Assault...Co-op... To me, they are all overdone, not to mention incredibly redundant. Duke doesn't chase flags and he's not a team player. DNF doesn't need any of those play mode to be good. Of course, I'm pretty easy to please. Hell, I'd be happy if DNF were nothing more than an FPS version of Manhattan Project with DukeMatch included. |

Re: DNF - Multiplayer stuff...
DM is ok, but at least one innovative mode should be in imho!
And for the Quake 3 bashers, you just arenīt skilled enough for really fast, basic deathmatch |

Co-op redundant? It is the most rare of the best gameplay modes ever, today. There's something to be said for having to go back to eight year old games for good co-op (spare Serious Sam and a few more). And deathmatch will never become obsolete. It is the purest form of multiplayer competition, and the everlasting place where the best of the best settle their scores. |

I hope they have multiplayer for DNF. Duke Nukem3d's muliplayer was so kick ass. I loved the shrink ray and being able to mine teleporters and never have the mines wear out was so cool.

Re: DNF - Multiplayer stuff...
Im not interested in Co-op at all. It might have been neat, but not worth all the extra work and time needed to do it correctly. Id rather they just spend that much more time and effort making the Dukematch cooler.
One thing I really like in games is when there are significant differences in gameplay between single player and multiplayer. For example the weapons do different things, and have different damage ratings than in single player. I also like when there are separate levels just for multiplayer that you wont find in single player. Sure, if you spend 6 months putting awesome design and detail and thought into a wicked single player map, then yea it would be a waste not to re-use it in multiplayer, but also I like when there are specific deathmatch only type maps. Also I hope there is a good rating/ranking system for online play, that keeps track of TONS of details, not just the amount of kills/deaths, but also stuff like headshots, body shots, 'bootings', kills by explosion, favorite weapon, and more! And most importantly, I hope you guys find a way to make cheating impossible, or at least really hard. Maaaan I hate cheaters. |

Re: DNF - Multiplayer stuff...
Since everyone is talking about co-op, I thought I would just throw this in.
I know they will not be putting in a co-op mode but I REALLY do hope that they at least ship with the ability for mod/map makers to put co-op functionality in their work. I know that a mod maker can just put in the functionality in by himself, but having it in already would save a lot of effort that could be put into just making the maps better. |

Re: DNF - Multiplayer stuff...
I believe the have said they didn't do that, they want to focus on things that they know work. co-op will take up valuable time, even if it's not supposed to be official and they rather spend that time on something usefull. (i.e. something other then co-op. )

Re: DNF - Multiplayer stuff...
*BUMP*
I thought about DNF having a special 'points' system MP-mode, where you win by getting the highest score in 'special kills points' instead of frags..! For instance, you kill someone with a RPG which gives you a special bonus, because it's... well... more exagerated than regular gun-kills, because the player gets blown into pieces rather than falling lifeless to the ground... The same goes of course, for the Shrinker, Freeze-ray, or any locational damage, like blowing the head off a player with a single shotgun blast..! Or when killing a player in a special moment/location, like throwing a pipebomb at a player who's 'regaining' health at the toilet..! This game mode would also be a pretty cool addition with vehicles in MP..! (but i doubt there's any vehicles in DNF's MP though..!) Come on and post your own wacky ideas in here..! You wouldn't want DNF to be one of those games which has Multiplayer, just to 'have it'..?! do you..!?
