Re: Post your rig!
My rig's getting up there in years, it's in my avatar.
Probably might build a new one around Windows 10 later on this year, or into next year.

Re: Post your rig!
I've had mine since January 2011. Next upgrade I'm thinking around 2016 or so. Skylake-K, Nvidia Pascal, and PCIe 4.0 or NVLink are the main reasons I want to upgrade.
I used to upgrade every 2 years, but since 2011, I've done little upgrades here and there instead of a big upgrade every couple years.

A cardboard box with legos and crayons inside.
I ask it very nicely each day and it plays games for me.

Re: Post your rig!
Built this baby for myself back in 2009. Since then I moved to solar power so I favour using laptops now.
Intel Core2duo e6750(1333Mhz FSB) 2.66ghz overclocked to 3.66Ghz (1Ghz overclock ) 2gb Corsair XMS2 800mhz dual channel memory. 500gb western digital black harddrive. XFX 680i LT SLI motherboard. (spilled coolant on it topping up the rad, had to replace with an XFX 750i which I dislike!) Cooler Master Aquagate S1 cheapy liquid cooler. XFX 9800GT XXX 512mb video card w/aftermarket cooler.(that big blue thing) Soundblaster Live! X-Gamer sound card. Ultra 650watt LSP power supply. 10 fans total LOL. Oh and a 5.25" bay mounted fan controller. Despite being built quite awhile ago, I loved it and it served me well. I actually just set it up at my younger brother's house for him to use along with my Acer 24" 1920x1200 2ms monitor.

Re: Post your rig!
Well.. Clearly you can see that the boxes are out of the packaging, and waiting to be built. I'm going to get in touch with my next door neighbor (which happens to be in the IT field, so smart move), and get his opinion and see what he can do with me.
The components are as follows: CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Motherboard: ASUS Z97 RoG Maximus VII Hero RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3-2400 16GB (2 x 8GB) Kit (Silver, red would've been a bit pricey). GPU: EVGA nVidia GeForce GTX 980 4GB GDDR5 SuperClocked ACX 2.0 PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 850W Case: Cooler Master CM Storm Trooper (Windowed Edition) SSD: Intel 730 Series 480GB HDD: Seagate Desktop 4TB Kit 7200RPM ODD1: Pioneer BDR-2209 16x BD-RE ODD2: LG 12x BD-ROM Wi-Fi: ASUS PCE-N15 Wireless-N PCI-E Card Hauppauage WinTV-HVR-2250 OS: Windows 8.1 Professional x64 Keyboard: Logitech G710 Mechanical Cherry MX Blue Mouse: Logitech G502 Proteus Core Speakers: Logitech Z506 5.1 Speakers Monitor: ASUS VG278HE 27" 144Hz 3D-Ready Monitor Wired X360 Controller Canon MP560 Wireless All-in-One Printer All in all, seems like it's taking shape. At most, I might add a second SSD to the mix, so I have the 480GB for boot and for non-gaming apps, and have a 1TB Samsung 850 EVO for Steam, time'll tell if that'll even be necessary. Also, since I do have an RoG board, might look into the Front Base control panel (assuming that the Storm Trooper has room for it underneath two optical drives, not sure, though). https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ki6qvhttj...Xby-kkVUa?dl=0

Re: Post your rig!
Well...I'd say so. Might consider throwing GTA V after it, and really put it to the test.

Re: Post your rig!
If you're wanting to really put it to the test, I'd go for something else.
GTAV is not a demanding game. That game is amazingly optimized and doesn't use nearly the resources you'd think it should.

Re: Post your rig!
Shadow of Mordor, of course. LOL.
Anyway, as you can plainly see, instead of the two optical drives I stated before, I opted for the Pioneer as the main Blu-ray drive, while having the ROG Front Base taking up the other two 5.25 bays. Seemed like a good compromise to me.

Re: Post your rig!
That looks like shitty case design (no offence 8IronBob), normally the PSU can only be installed one way.
Could be a nightmare for keeping the hardware cool.

Re: Post your rig!
Well, Cooler Master, by default, had their fans facing sideways (Storm Trooper). Not sure why CM wanted to do that, because clearly their HAF cases have the fans blowing the right way. The only reason I went with storm was because I was torn between a HAF 932 and a Phantom 630 at the time, and felt the CM Storm Trooper was a good compromise. Also, the original PSU, which was a EVGA 850 G2, I did face down, and was fully modular, but it bricked after my couple of bench tests, so I went back to the Corsair HX620W, which I know is old now, but I've always faced that up in builds past, and it was no problem.

Re: Post your rig!
I still have an old i7 860 from about 6 years ago or whenever they first came out.
Gone through 4 or 5 video cards and currently have a GTX 970 Hopefully, i will build a new one later this year.

I would've replaced that 650W PSU with a higher wattage

Re: Post your rig!
Yeah, modern GPUs don't require nearly as much power as they used to.
A 650w is more then enough for even a 980. The only reason to really go a lot higher would be if you're running SLI, a lot of additional devices or drives.
