I have a couple questions for George or Scott or whoever else at 3DRealms is able to answer them.
Clearly making DNF has been a learning process. You don't go as long as you have with out learning something about the process of game development. What have you learned? Have you changed the way you are currently managing the process as a result of what you have learned? If so, what has changed? Could you talk about the change(s) with the greatest impact on either you personally, or the team as a whole? Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond. ![]()

Re: A Couple of Questions for George or Scott
Do you really want to learn from people who take this long to make a game?

Re: A Couple of Questions for George or Scott
And 3D Realms arguably have more experience than any one else in dealing with delays and other development issues. They really do understand what can go wrong, because they've been through it!
I think that makes their advice very valuable.

Just because they've had to deal with dev. issues it doesn't mean they've learned from them

Re: A Couple of Questions for George or Scott
Well why is the engine now complete when for most of the game's development it was too unstable for full-scale content production to occur? Why is there 10x more content in the current version than there was in the previous one (judging from file sizes)?
Clearly they've made significant changes to their development process.

i say one thing they'll learn is not to take so long making a game.

They already said that they've learnt from their mistakes.

Re: A Couple of Questions for George or Scott
But I think dssherm's point was to get something a little more specific, such as a "Don't do this" or a "Do do this" rather than just a "Yes, we have learned from our mistakes." Someone is invariably going to read my post and think, "Hey, he's just prying for more DNF info!" This is not necessarily the case, nor is it necessary to delve into specifics of game to cover elements of the process and what could have been done better.
Personally, I would love to see some (preferably new) examples of what to do/what not to do in game design.
