Not always true. I've seen news pop up on other websites and then hit the 3DRealms front page minutes to an hour later.

So it's not confirmed. Neither was it denied as a possible release date, and there was mention of a follow up. Which is the interesting part.

To me a late 2008, early 2009 release seems very likely. We got a teaser trailer, and I believe George said there'd be a full trailer released a few months later. They have almost an entire year to build up the anticipation, I'm thinking they're starting soon.
