In BS:AoG, one of the things an informant says is "To destroy Dr. Goldfire, shoot him when he initiates warpout." I've tried shooting Goldfire during every phase of his warpout, but he just disappears like he always does. Am I doing something wrong?

Been too long, I don't remember. I can ask, but I think this might fall under "Uh, oops". ![]()

Re: "Destroying" Dr. Goldfire
Yeah, there is no way to destroy Dr. Goldfire. The frames for his death aren't even in the graphics files for the game.

Re: "Destroying" Dr. Goldfire
I like to shooting Dr. Goldfire because of hitting him will be get scores.
But I always thinks he looks like unkillable. ![]() Maybe that(Dr.Goldfire)'s a homolographic or somethings... "Destroying" him not equal to "Killing" him. ![]()

Re: "Destroying" Dr. Goldfire
from the tech support section of the site:
Game Hint - Episode 6 Level 9 In Blake Stone episode 6 level 9, you cannot kill Dr. Goldfire (this privilege is reserved for Blake Stone: Planet Strike). In order to finish the game, you must find and locate all ten generators. The generators are long cylindrical objects, that when destroyed leave a burning mess on the floor. When I first got Blake Stone, I was disappointed because I wanted to do the same thing ![]() |

Re: "Destroying" Dr. Goldfire
That's not up to us. We don't have rights to release source code for everything.
You also assume it still exists. In a lot of cases from that era, those materials are no longer around.

Re: "Destroying" Dr. Goldfire
I'm talking about release of the source code, not sequel rights. They're not the same, the last time I looked.

Joe - If you're referrin to what I quoted I'm sorry. I thought the thread that I grabbed it from was talkin about sequels cause I thought the original post of that thread asked if he could buy the rights or something for a sequel or something to that nature. My bad.

if one wanted to look into seeing if the developers had the source who would be most probable of still having it?

Re: "Destroying" Dr. Goldfire
Blake was actually developed by JAM Productions, but I can't find any information on them. Obviously they are no longer around.
Some of this stuff was brought up in this way old post: http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1420

Re: "Destroying" Dr. Goldfire
All of the Blake Stone features have been coded into Wolfenstein 3-D mods for some time. I don't think a Blake Stone source code release would even include anything that some of the Wolf 3-D stuff I've made and seen others made haven't done.
Unless you're talking about making a Blake Stone mod that adds weapons or something. Then you'd be SOL.

Re: "Destroying" Dr. Goldfire
Yeah, "company" names back then frequently were something just made up to make it seem "bigger" than it actually was. Don't forget in that day it was not uncommon for a game development team to be two or three people - and THAT WAS IT. Not like today.

Re: "Destroying" Dr. Goldfire
well... there are still 1-4 develpoer projects that have a large fanbase... but they are normally open source and freeware. unlike where in 1990's 2 people could make a game and sell it... i guess sourceforge.net is a small development team's best friend now.

Re: "Destroying" Dr. Goldfire
kind of strange to think that digital media was thought to last forever. that simply is not the case, as hollywood is finding out. Old floppy disks will lose their data coherency, as eventually will parked hard drives. the various cd/dvd roms are supposed to last but also may be subject to 'rot' as the write layer decays or seperates. not surprising to have old source code that simply cannot be found...

Re: "Destroying" Dr. Goldfire
true... but then again... that is why people have backups of their stuff, not everyone thinks that their stuff on a floppy or cd will last forever...
