Rescuing the Babes?
Hi everyone, I was just wondering how you rescue the girls trapped in the cocoons? When I walk up to them and press the "use" button, all they do is tell me to kill them. Well being the gentleman that I am, I would rather not. So I guess my question in full is this: Is it even possible to rescue the babes in the XBL arcade version? And if so, how?

You can't. Killing them usually spawns more enemies too, so don't do that either.

Just leave them be. Sometimes though you have to kill them (mostly in Episode 2) if you want some extra ammo.

^^really? I don't remember that. I never noticed it

But you could actually save them in Duke Nukem 64 and in Duke Nukem Zero Hours, both great games.

Yeh, for an example on the Overlord level you have to kill a couple of cocooned babes in order to get a few items that's stuck behind them. And on Fusion Station, near the beginning, you have to kill a cocooned babe to get the shotgun behind her.

Now when I think about it you also have to kill all three cocooned babes in The Abyss level in episode 1 to get all the goodies behind them.

Thanks to everyone that replied. I don't really know why rescuing the babes wouldn't be an option in the game. Ah well, I guess I'll just have to resign myself to big guns, one liner taunts, and lots of explosions....... darn.

I always thought those babes were in pain and in no state to continue a healthy life after being saved, so they'd rather prefer to be killed by Duke.

Yeah, Nintendo was trying to stay in the PG, PG-13 during the 64. So mostly all their games didn't have alot of gore sex and violence that you would see in PSone. Duke Nukem is a perfect example. Most of the favorite levels were change. The Red Light District was changed into a Burger World where the Strip Joint was a Garage. WTFM? Even the Third Level had changes. Though they compensated for some things. I did like the Double MP5K's

Consider that when Duke 3D was first released, this was the height of interactivity available at the time. It was among the first instances of audible NPC in-game dialogue afaik.

Hmm...good point. I'm pretty sure the kiddies were jumping out of their seats whenever they heard "Come get some".

Level 2 is actually very clever in its satire of itself.

Replace PORN with GUNS.
Replace SEX AND STRIPPERS with FOOD.

Level 3 had the church taken out, and in its place was a glassed cell block where Hannibal Lector could be found. Think Snake Plissken was also moved into there.

It is a shame Duke3D didnt have rescuable babes, because if there was anything the N64 games did right, it was having Duke actually save them. Just felt more heroic.

I didn't say I didn't Like Duke64. Infact thats how Duke got started for me. But down the line newer games made it to where you had to rescue the babes. DNMP for one.
