Balls of Steel loader released
I just released a loader/wrapper for Balls of Steel. It hooks the game's DirectDraw calls and redirects them to newer and more compatible methods, like Direct3D. That makes it run nicer on Windows 7, and you can also get it to run in a window, etc...

You can find more information and download it from http://ronwarez.com/bosloader/

Christophe,

I've tried you loader on my Win 7 64 HP system, but the Bosloader complains that it's files aren't in the BoS folder - which the absolutely are.

Do you have any idea what might be wrong?

Regards

Excellent - that loader is superb and for the first time in 5 years I've been able to play the Duke Nukem table. It's every bit as good as I remembered!

Many thanks for writing that loader.

The program will display this error if it cannot find the "bos.exe" program to launch.

Can you make sure both "bosloader.exe" and "bosloader.dll" are in the same folder as "bos.exe" and that you are launching "bosloader.exe" in that folder? Usually it should be in "C:\Program Files\Pinball Wizards\Balls of Steel".

Well, that's the problem: all files are in BOS' program folder...

Or is there a path hard-coded in the bosloader? SpecialDirectories.ProgramFiles gives the correct value for 32-bit applications, i.e. C:\ProgramFiles (x86).

Wow, just wow! Thanks very much Christophe for this, it's awesome. I thought I'd never be able to play BOS ever again.

Do you have any plans to make a loader for the stand alone table Devil's Island at all?

Thanks again for your work Christophe, you've made a BOS fan very happy!

Cheers,

Zinc
