Source code layout
This message is mainly to joe Siegler (thanks for putting up rott src forum!). I have some programs that will go through source code files and generate a graphical layout of how all the source code relates to other parts of itself, you can lookup variables, arrays, etc, etc. The only problem is that
the generated output is rather large, and it would probably have to be put on a cd and sent to you, or maybe it could uploaded, but it would be a large upload, would you be interested in this, and would it be ok to do? I would like to do this and contribute this to this forum so everyone who is interested could benefit. Thanks! jbailey |

Re: Source code layout
This sounds pretty useful as I'm going through the code right now. How large is this graphical layout compressed? I have some space to spare on my website.

Re: Source code layout
Sounds useful, but I think it would be more useful to post a link to the software used to generate the files you speak of, with maybe any help with using it if need be.
Thanks.

Re: Source code layout
Visual Slickedit can do it, as can many other utilities, in a basic sort of way.
I think WinEdit does it as well.

Re: Source code layout
It's about 110 megs zipped, and about 160 megs
unzipped, internet explorer seems to load the info better then netscape, my source publishing program created a index page and a toc page that you can browse the source code info from. You can select declaration, invocation, you can see what file goes to what other file and more, this zip is uploadable due to its size, if anyone wishes to put it up on their page, give me your upload link and I'll send to you. jbailey |

Re: Source code layout
Sound very usefull. I think your best bet, due to bandwidth and such, is to get it on fileplanet.
Maybe if you mail joe he could get it on there. |

Re: Source code layout
Sounds like a good idea, Joe would it be ok to send the file to you? As I have never uploaded to fileplanet before...

Re: Source code layout
Well, due to unforseen problems with my code publishing program, it will a day or so before I can post the report, it keeps not generating certain parts of the report, and it takes several hours per attempt to generate. I'll get this thing out eventually, but I want it right before I release it.

Re: Source code layout
I downloaded updates to my source publishing programs, hopefully, that will correct the problems I've been having. Anyone interested in checking out these programs can go to this link:
http://www.scitools.com You can download the programs and get a evaluation code to try them out.. jbailey |

Re: Source code layout
I FINALLY got the Rott Source code map file uploaded to fileplanet, it's about 63 megs (had a lot of extra
stuff selected in previous attempts). The filename is 'rottprj.zip'. It will probably be a couple of days before the file is available for download. There are 2 things you need to know (don't report these bugs) The search function seems to not work properly at the moment The header pic in the pdf file is messed up Other then these 2 things, everything else should run ok, if you find something that does not load or some other problem, please let me know, I welcome all comments/remarks good & bad, my email is jbailey8@triad.rr.com. Internet Explorer seems to handle these files better then netscape. Just unzip with long filename & directory restore options. and load in either 'toc.html' or 'index.html'. Thanks! jbailey |

Re: Source code layout
I just got a email from fileplanet saying that my rott source code file will be available for download,
Your file will be available at this URL within the next few hours: http://www.fileplanet.com/files/110000/118300.shtml If you want, give this a shot and see what you think, I'm always improving the information, You will probably see some bugs, please report both good and bad things about the report (or at least the bad so I can try and fix it). Thanks! jbailey |
