Help! Slow Max! Big Payne!

sup, first at all i want so say that my english isn't very well, that's because im german. but now, the problem [img]images/icons/tongue.gif[/img]

max payne runs kind of slow on my athlon xp 2100+ system with a radeon 8500 and 512 mb ram. i have the newest drivers installed, and i have selected every option in the option menu to high, exept "antialiansing" and "filtering". the first in "off", the second "trilinear". then i set all options to low, everything runs fine: the problem is, that i think that my system is ready for the "high options" and i dont want to play with low details, etc. i think max runs slow, because of the d3d-driver. i there any new one to download? or is very any kind of new tweak guide? i read this one(http://www.3drealms.com/max/support/index.html), but it didnt help.

anyways, what direct x are you on?
is the computer defragged?
do any other games run slow or just max?

only max runs slow. i have installed directx 9.0a and i defraged a few days ago.

wierd, did you try setting certain things to off, like hardware t&l and 3d sound ?
maybe your video card doesnt support one of the features in the game when turned on..

and 3dsound also tends to slow stuff down

maybe your video drivers are too old or too new, sometimes the newest drivers slow certain games more down the speed them up [img]images/icons/frown.gif[/img]

try installing an older version of your video drivers ( but do backup you current drivers [img]images/icons/wink.gif[/img] )

is there very any kind of new "e2driver" for max payne to download?

did you upgrate to MP 1.5? with the patch available around?

yes, i installed the patch 1.05. but i have the patch from an older magazine-cd. is there a new version, available? i cant find any newer version than 1.05.

i think 1.5 is the newest. isnt there any info on performance in the manual, like a Q&A ?
but i might suuggest putting all the fancy stuff to off til it runs and then tinker with the setting til it runs smooth, for me the biggest slowdown is shen i turn on anti aliassing, it drops my framerate by 3 times.
