Game Informer says DNF is Cancelled

If you look at the latest issue of Game Informer, on the very back page where their stupid quiz is in the top right corner it says "Years it took for DNF to be cancelled 12"... unless they got info these forums don't shouldn't 3DR at least tell them not to print that trash or give us an update that it actually is cancelled?

I know the one or two people still working there that run the servers these forums are on might check on to see this and agree or disagree...

And that's all well and good, but shouldn't the magazine printed as such? Oh, my bad I forgot, print media not putting a spin on something to create buzz would be *gasp* truth...

I don't think they're doing that to create buzz, they probably are just working from a false assumption based on appearances.

That's not any type of thing they would consult a developer over before printing.

I fear that it will take 2 years for the complete resurrection of 3Drealms with sales of prey 2 and earth no more. Then radar group will have some money to spend on 3Drealms or a duke nukem FPS again...

Nobody told anything about DNF tiil now, all they say are empty words that don't make sense for us fans. And we don't even know where the truth is in all this.

I find it verry simple. No team, no production.

The game is far closer to the status cancelled than anything else since no one is working on it because the investor pulled out.

How do we know that it still isnt a viral marketing stunt. and that 3DR is now developing DNF at a secret location away from interest, planning to release the game when the hype is high.

Sounds unlikely but you never know.

But having spent 12 years and $20mil+ it seems like a waste of time, money, and resourses to just quit so far along and how close it is to completion.

R_R, for a response please read just about any thread posted since May.
This is all pointless. No, technically DNF hasn't been cancelled, so Game Informer are wrong. But it's not cancelled in the same way Starcraft: Ghost isn't cancelled. It was a cheap shot at 3DR's expense on GI's part, but who really cares? It's nowhere near the worst insult printed about the company in the past few months (or decade preceding).

Or Prey in the early 2000's. I like that example better because Prey was eventually released

The game is not officially canceled. Official here being the operative word since there has been no statement that the game is canceled. IN fact, 3DR has insisted that they are constantly developing the game in their lawsuit papers. For this to be legally proven, there has to be a technical difference between the build in May and the build when the suit comes to fruition. That difference, legally speaking, could be a line of code or a single pixel, but it would be a technical demonstration of the game being developed even after the closure of the studio.

I don't get it. It's looking more true that it has been canceled because a disappointed fan put up a RIP DNF picture on their website?
