3D REALMS, will you guys be making a book about DNF

Hello 3D REALMS staff. I was wondering if you guys were going to make a book about the development of Duke Nukem Forever (Kinda like Half-Life 2's "Raising the Bar") once it is released. Even a documetary video about the development would be cool. I'd like to read about the team's challenges and what ever else you guys have to say.

This has been asked before about a million times and they haven't answered. They haven't said no either as far as I'm aware. Just let them finish the game first.

Yeah, it's still too early to answer something like this...

It's more like a "near completion-thing", rather than a "middle of developmnet project"...

Oh, they have answered, several times in fact. Here's one quote:

"Some of the guys here have archived lots of screenshots from various stages of development. It's interesting to run through them from time to time and see progress and what we've been through. I could see releasing some of this at some pointm with some information as to what you are seeing and why it mattered. Some of it would be interesting to guys like you, who have really followed the game, or just people interested in "why the hell did this game take so freakin' long!". We'll see later on. But I suspect the interest is there and it's something we're aware of." (March, 2004)

Basically, they'll look at the situation post release, and see what they can do.

And how do you know 3D REALMS is in the "middle of development"? I read several articles where they said that all was needed was to finish some last few parts of the game. The truth is, no one knows. I just thought I would ask so that way the guys at 3D REALMS could know that there are people who would love a book or documentary on DNF. Besides, I haven't been here as long as you guys have to see if this question has been asked a "million times".

There should be 2 books IMO.

1. Written by 3Drealms - DNF, Making the game - about their experiences, hurdles and the likes
2. Written by the 3DR forumers - DNF, Waiting for the game - about waiting for the game...

I'd actually kinda like to see a 'Behind the game' (Formerly called "The last days of" or something like that) article on Gamespot. The Half Life 1/2, Daikatana, and Quake 3 articles are facsinating reads.

That is actually a really good idea Amakou.I really like the title. But I do also think that a book should be made. I'd buy two copies of the book and DVD. One to watch and read and one to collect of each.

Or instead of a normal book, it could be a pop-up picture book that goes with the DVD, and when you reach the end, Duke punches you in the face.

A PDF Book would work, sell it online or offer it free. I saw an awesome history of the playstation pdf book that was really well written.

Yeah, they said that several times... And that is also "in the middle of development"... "in the middle" Doesn't necessarily mean halfway through, or anything... It just means they are still working on it too much, to care for other matters as this, just now...

There needs to be a book a la Raising the Bar. If HL2's 6 year old development warranted a (well done) book, then certainly there's much to tell from behind the scenes for DNF.
