Max Payne Movie DVD available for pre-order!
If you missed seeing Max Payne in the theatres, or wanted to order your own copy to own at home, you can do so now. Max Payne is available to pre-order from Amazon.com as of today. There are three flavors available to choose from:
All three versions of the release contain both the theatrical and a new, unrated edition of the movie. What exactly is new in terms of movie scenes in the unrated version is not known to us, but if we find that information out, we'll be sure to pass it along. All three versions will be available on January 20th. The standard one disc version will have a commentary from the movie's director, John Moore, production designer Daniel Dorrance, and Visual Effects Supervisor Everett Burrell. The two disc "special edition" will include all of the above, plus add a picture production featurette (Part 1), a Michelle Payne animated graphic novel, and a digital copy of the film. The Blu-Ray release will contain all of the info from the standard releases, but will also have English 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio. Further Blu-Ray exclusives are a Walkthroughs & Cheats - Making Max Payne featurette, picture-in-picture interviews with director John Moore, and a Picture Production Featurette (Part 2). A note: These discs are for sale from Amazon.com's US store. The single and double disc DVD's are Region 1 encoded, and the Blu-Ray is "Region A" encoded.

Re: Max Payne Movie DVD available for pre-order!
I'm sorry to say I didn't really like the max payne film too much storytelling and not enough action until right at the end (which was pretty cool especially when max was tripping on V).
I hope others enjoyed it more than me though. |

I didn't like the movie either, it was a payne... to the max.
I do enjoy the games by our Finnish friends though. |

Sorry, Movie sucked. Hollywood just doesn't get it. Maybe we should give Bollywood a try.

Re: Max Payne Movie DVD available for pre-order!
In response to my original quote. I have to say, I saw the movie again. But this time the blue ray version in full DTS sound with my HTPC system. Movie is decent. I give it 3 out of 5 stars. I think the story was a bit weak and took a while to get the action going. Also, the part of Jim Bravura played by Ludicrous was just that, "Ludicrous".

Re: Max Payne Movie DVD available for pre-order!
I'll still get around to watching this movie some time seeing I'm a big fan of Max Payne but I've herd & seen nothing but bad things about it on the web, & it flopped at the cinema, so i'm not expecting much but perhaps that's the best way to go into a movie & then I might be supprised as it might be better then i'm expecting.

Re: Max Payne Movie DVD available for pre-order!
I just watched the Unrated DVD today, it was actually quite good. The beauty part is, it was from the public library, so it didn't cost more than just a swipe of the library card and three weeks to keep it. It was worth the while, tho, I do have to be honest. I was in a waiting cycle, I must admit, but it's worth it. Mila Kunis was HAWT in this movie, she played out a nice Mona Sax...

Re: Max Payne Movie DVD available for pre-order!
I feel bad for the people that are going to run out and buy this thing not knowing how gorram bad this movie is. It was unforgivably terrible. I don't think any amount of "Recutting" would be enough to save it.....Not unless it's a completely different movie on the disc or something.
You don't want to take my word for it? At least take my advice: Wait for the release and then rent it if you really want to see it so bad. It made me mad that I even spent $7 to see it on the big screen. Don't go wasting $20+ on this DVD. The economy's in the toilet. Save your money. Re-install the game if you want (it's a better movie than the movie).

Re: Max Payne Movie DVD available for pre-order!
In my opinion, it very much is that bad. Not just as an adaptation of the source material, but on its own merits (or lack of such) as an action movie.
But, I'm aware that some people here still enjoyed this movie (for whatever reason beyond my understanding) and will go out and buy it anyway. I'm not here to argue with you or them. You do what you want. I'm just warning other fans like me who might have been expecting a movie with close to the same competent level of thought and execution as the game in terms of character motivation, plot, narrative and overall style. These are the things that mattered most and could have easily made the transition to the big screen, but they did not. Instead, they chose another route and did so poorly.

Re: Max Payne Movie DVD available for pre-order!
What's new on that that the US Blu-Ray dosen't have?
---------- Post added at 07:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:01 PM ---------- I thought the movie was ok as a normal film, not an adaptation, but if you compare the game to it, the game was longer and way better than the film. The film has almost nothing but the names and some events that are in the game. Other than that, its completely different.

Re: Max Payne Movie DVD available for pre-order!
Why not Max Payne 1? Heh, that's so strange. Not that it would make any more sense to someone playing for the first time.
Saw the DVD in shops today, but I didn't buy it. I don't think I will until it's about £3. |

Re: Max Payne Movie DVD available for pre-order!
Yep.
It's got some more blood, gunfights feel more satisfying due to the added blood and such. More profanity and such. It was an R movie before it was cut down to the PG-13, I don't see how the director thought he made a PG-13 film. Hell, anyone in the industry should know you say f**k more than once you've got yourself an R rating.

Re: Max Payne Movie DVD available for pre-order!
Not the Unrated, the Harder Cut.
Quote:
IGN: Now we're here for the DVD obviously, which is called Max Payne: The Harder Cut - what makes it 'harder?' John Moore: Well I've been well publicised with my difference with the anti-freedom organisation called the MPAA, and I was upset with them [after they cut the film], and I lost... I lost. And this cut... is me winning! I get to show the movie more how it was supposed to be. Why should people buy it? Maybe they shouldn't, you know what, save you're money! It's a tough economic time. But if you want to spend the money, then you get the see the film I wanted you to see. [/url]
