Question Hosting Duke3D server?
I've wondered about this for sometime and forgive me cause I'm clueless. I haven't played Duke3D like i had planned lately. I have managed to find 90% of my Duke stuff and even bought a couple more things. Anyway I'm curious, is there any way possible to host a dedicated duke3d type server? Like one does in various shooters such as quake and battlefield... Maybe develop something through some coding n engineering where players could enter the game freely and randomly? I've a dedicated machine at my office plus one I rent in the UK that I intend to be renting for years to come for various uses. Currently the one in UK i've yet to see what it's potential is and it's a dedicated server that's almost unused. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts to add? Thx!

BTW the reason I ask, you know how some games you love just die overtime? I remember playing 4x4 Evolution 2 and owning but that games long gone. Tribes 1? Tribes 2? dead SO I'd like to be able to keep a server or two up that could host some of the games I miss, 24/7/365, so those that have the same problem as I do, with letting go of the past, have somewhere to turn

Shock and Awe.
EDuke32 now uses a new server/client based multiplayer, it's still in the works but it currently does work good for LAN games and internet games depending on the ping.
Where as the old peer to peer system did not allow in game joining etc.

From the small amount of time I've had these past few days, so far all I've gathered is that the only one close to such is eDuke but it doesn't have such a server part for linux yet, though I'm told it's in the works, so we will see what happens

Yeah, I saw you in the EDuke32 IRC, now maybe you move to the duke4.net forums as well.
