Gamma adjustment

Ok guys and gals, I have called the Tech. line and was told someone would get back to me either by phone or email and nothing. I love the game and am in the middle of it and in some areas I get black walls with no detail. I can stand at a doorway and depending on how I turn I can see some of the room the way it was ment to be seen, the rest will be black. It makes the game real hard to play. Is there some way by adjusting the gamma of the game that these rooms will come into full view. Right now I am in the dock area and it is hard to play with everything being black.
