Yeah, a DVD would be a good idea since they won't release LameDNF. Which would be a great goodie with the DVD.

Are you kidding? You could pick any of 3DRealms many rollercoaster moments in the development process. How about:
-an interactive timeline through the game's inception to its release
-Comparison shots of all enemies, vehicles, levels and how they changed in the process
-behind the scenes voice work (fans would eat this up!)
-a tour of 3DRealms...(some of us can't afford to just go there)
-Deleted levels,characters, etc... that didn't make it into the game

The enhanced dvd could contain all the magazine covers from 1997 up to now, magazines reviews, interviews, all the pics the released and didn't, the trailers, samples from the Duke music album, samples from DNF soundtrack (or maybe full DNF soundtrack). I would like to see 3DR vision of a Duke3D in HRP (yeah it is pointless). All this as a enhanced dvd, cause if you've follow DNF maybe you already got all these stuff.

Pretty much what everyone has mentioned would be good. Comparisons between different versions, concept to creation to final products, hirings, explanations on the timeline of things, looking back in retrospect and whether they thought it was worth it, and stuff like that. The list could go on forever (no pun intended), with all the events that have occurred throughout the tumultuous development.

Any incisive look into the entire process would please Duke fans, and also clear up a lot of baseless rumours, and help those who haven't followed development understand a little better on how things happened the way they have. That'd be the way to do it, I reckon.

When Duke is released what kind of special collectors edition items would be cool to have in the package?

like it would be sweet if they released the prototype copies of duke forever (on quake 2 engine and unreal engine) sort of like lameDuke was to duke3d

... and a 4 hour "making of" documentary (hey George we want to see want you guys been up to for the past 10 years! )

Artbooks, Pewter Figurines, Development documentation showcasing the different iterations of the game, with "did you know?"-style facts, etc. A lot of possibilities!

1.- Countless times.
2.- First, the package itself would have to be a metal box, I love them. A.R.T. B.O.O.K. definitely. A very detailed instructions booklet (like GTA:SA one). Level editor manual (sounded noob-ish, I know). Duke's sunglasses. DNF poster. Another job 'cause my wallet would be empty after this purchase.
3.- I have a strange feeling that they won't do it.
4.- A MUST.

I was thinking imagine it would be cool if 3drealms shipped out DNF limited edition on dvd. On the dvd would be the final build( of course ), but it would be cool if they put DNF 1998 build and DNF 2001 build for fun on a second disk. After playing the final build (like 99999+ times) i would then play the other builds. IMO DNF for 2001 looks like it could have rocked!
