Weird graphics lines in game

I've played Prey before and didn't have this problem. I play it on a Windows XP computer. The only difference in playing it without the lines showing up and now when they are that I can think of is I've gotten a new monitor but I've not had any problems in any of my other games. They show up when I turn at different angles in the game. It isn't always in the same place on the screen. Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening or has someone else experienced this problem? It really is distracting.

I haven't seen that issue before... I'd suggest checking for a driver update as well...

Lines can be attributed to an overheating/dying video card, but I too suggest installing new drivers first.

What card and what drivers are you using.

When you update your drivers do you simply install on top of your old ones? Or do you uninstall the old ones and then install the new ones?

If you don't already, I would suggest using DriverCleaner Pro and try either the newest drivers or even rolling back to some older ones.

If that doesn't fix the issue, hunt down the latest version of DX9.0c and install that. Seriously doubt it's the problem.. but you never know.

If it's not driver related I agree with Hud, your card is to hot or dying. Any overclocks set the clock speeds back to factory settings and try.

Well thank you all for your replies but I've never been any good with technical stuff so before I did anything like update drivers and such I decided to mess around with the graphics of the game turning on and off different things and lowering my resolution has so far eliminated the strange graphics. When the lines appeared I had it on 1680x1050 which is the resolution I use for other games but lowering it to 1280x1024 eliminated the dark lines.

If they return again, please go back to the suggested solutions posted in here...
If you have any problems with those things, we can always point you out step-by-step how to check certain information, and fix things, if it can be fixed...

By lowering your resolution you've taken some load off your GPU.... so I would still go with the overheating idea.
