Question Questions about CON scripting
Title says it all. I´m from Finland and I have tried to learn CON scripting or even just scripting Duke Nukem 3D, modify it, add new enemies etc. but I´ve never managed to get so far, so I decided to ask few questions about modification.

#1.

Some Dukers, or even most of Dukers have played XBOX 360 version of
Duke Nukem. It´s modified in some ways from the original PC version of the game and my question is that how you could possibly add secrets´ counter to the game.
I can explain further. Well, if you could find all the secrets from the episode 1 for example, including secret levels and their secrets, you could get yourself into the super secret level, where you can find rare collectible item. When you have done this in all of those four original episodes, you could get to play bonus episode. How it could get to work?

#2.

We all know that you can select any of those four episodes to be played at any time during gameplay, but I was thinking that it might be more interesting to play the episodes in strict order. After you have completed the first episode, you can go to another and so on. How it could get to work?

Try starting here:

There's also this thread at Duke4.net, where most of us hang out these days:

I don't know of a way to make episodes in the main menu inaccessible. The same applies to difficulty levels. It is possible to make in-game hacks that accomplish pretty much the same thing, but that's pretty advanced.

Duke Nukem Re: Questions about CON scripting
OK, thanks DeeperThrough. I really appreciate your help and I´ve got bit more closer in this subject, and I think I found some kind of "method" for global secret counting.

Well, when you are playing some of Duke´s original levels, like Going Postal for example (one of my favourite levels) you can see of course that when you recover a secret it adds it into the counter, which is quite crystal clear thing, but I think we should try to make secret counter add found secrets into the global game counter, if you know what I mean. I could tell more about this.
OK, when Duke plays any of the levels in some of those episodes, he can get weapons, health, items and so on. When Duke has Devastator, Pistol, Medikit (full) and his health percent is like 50% for example, and then he will press Nuke Button and enter to next level, he will keep the same things as were in the end of the previous level. This was an example about the method. Who thinks he/she understood?

Well, I doubt any of these features are possible without a hub map like the castle map in Super Mario 64.

But coding doors that work only when the player has achieved several goals in the game shouldn't be that hard.
