Contoller update
About a really long time ago I had requested that the option for a joystick be implemented in DNF.

I know that this is a bit of a freak request by many of the keyboard mousers, however I am most compfortable with joystick mouse combo. Body movements front back and left right with joystick and aim of course with mouse.

It was implied that 3dr would likely include this as a feature.

I can not function with mouse keyboard due to tendon problems. I hope that DNF will include such allowances.

So to make a long post shorter... Will DNF still have joystick support???

Keyboard and mouse makes most games to easy on the Computer. I would like to play DNF to have a joystick for the challenge.

Re: Contoller update
How do you conclude that joystick is more difficult.

it is an intuitive device. Trust me it is all opinion and depends on who you are.

Joystick is far simpler with the mouse!!! and mouse keyboard are Far superior. My buddy will wipe you up with joystick mouse against your keyboard mouse. (at least odds are that he would.) he was one of the best players I have ever seen.

he can not play at all with keyboard mouse.

All in all I like keyboard mouse. and actually I kind of need it considering physical limitations.

So mouse and keyboard is best as well as joystick and mouse is best. it depends on who you are.

So all fighting and your method is better than my method comments aside I am wondering if DNF will incorporate said control method?

Well, given how many FPS's are on the consoles these days - adding support for a gamepad for PC wouldn't really be an odd thing to do, especially if any other games (as Hazmat mentioned, Crysis for example) are implementing it. I'll stick to k/b + mouse though...

So, do I get this right - you use the joystick to move and the mouse to look? With joystick buttons for functions like jumping, weapons switching and so fourth? In that case, I could see how that could work out advantageous - using a flight stick with analog control that is of course. Tilt a little to move a little slowly, push all the way to move quickly.

In fact, the more I think about it, the more I want to go out and grab myself a decent joystick. I've got a PS2 control pad adapter, but that's just not the same. I hope 3DR have considered this...

The best controller for the PC is the 360 controller. Get the wired one otherwise you have to get an cordless adapter for the pc.

But it's another gamepad. Gripping a gamepad one-handed just sounds awkward, and most of the buttons would be wasted. At least a decent joystick is designed mostly for one-handed use. It would particularly be good if it was designed to be used left handed, or at the very least ambidextrously, so the right hand can be left to work the mouse. Which was the whole point, wasn't it?

I don't use the mouse with the controller. I use the controller properly. If I was online MP I would get slaughtered but I only use it for SP. It is slower but I don't seem to mind. The mouse is far superior cuz your using your whole hand to aim rather then just your thumb. But when i use a controller I don't use the mouse. In Crysis you could use both as both are responsive in game which is why I want that feature in DNF. 3DR should be already be in use of this as they work. This would give the developers a greater feel of how the game will play on the different platforms.

Or both simultaneously, ie controller and mouse at the same time. Which was the point of the original post. I had never thought of a mouse/joystick combo before, but it's so obvious that I'm assamed of never trying it. Might have to experiment a little in the future...

I guess once again it boils down to letting the gamer play how they feel comfortable. I would very much doubt the game would be stitched to just mouse/keyboard combo. If a gamer wants to play the game using only keyboard, only joystick, joystick/keyboard combo or DDR dance mat/Guitar Hero controller combo, it probably will let them do so. Well, maybe not that last one, but you get the point.

I have tried that and it is slow as shit. Its real dodgy and the slowest way to play. You would have to move your whole hand to move when you could be just using your fingers or thumb.

I've never played with the joystick so it is gonna be a challenge for me to play through. Just saying, maybe you shouldn't jump off the handle so fast.

I had one of those & hated it! It was counter-intuitive if one was used to keyboard/mouse - you had to move with your right hand and aim with the left!

Yeah and a control pad is only ever any good if you play it by itself, two handed like you want. Looking at my PS2 controller, playing one-handed means you've only got the two left shoulder buttons and the digital pad and the nob at your disposal. Not sure how a XB360 controller would feel one handed, but it couldn't be any better.

Fine, your point is you use the controller by itself. My point is if you wanted to use a controller/mouse combo, a control pad just wouldn't cut it. Unless you happen to be Zaphod Beeblebrox or something. You need something that works one-handed.

No that wont work.
How stupid are the creators of that "Joypad"?

One of the ONLY advantages a Joypad has over a keyboard is the analog stick.
Move in any direction, as fast or slow as you want. Gineous.
On a keyboard you can either press a button or dont. And if you want to run you can hold down another button. STUPID!

So why didnt they include a analog stick on this thing?

And last time you brought it up it ended up as a holy war over controller choice; I won't allow that to happen again.

I don't think final decisions have been made yet one way or the other.
