Favorite Duke 3D DukeMatch levels?

The "city levels" were definitely more fun (mirrors,fighting in the bar-shooting bottles, hiding in closets and cabinets!!). Great layout for setting boobytraps.

These levels made me play for HOURS,DAYS,NIGHTS with my......sister.(Minesweeper was the only pc game she knew up to then....and actually she hasn't played any other games after duke 3d....)

City levels are fun, but so are levels that have a TON of secrets (see my previous post). Also isolated levels were fun, like the first DM level of Duke Nukem: Carribean DM Episode, or Lagoon (Lagoon has way more stuff then that DNC level however).

Can you even play DN3D on WinXP? I'd like to buy it and load it up again just for old times sake if you can. I have no idea where my original disks are...

LA Rumble had so many fun aspects. I'll list a few.

- jet pack fun
- dark corridors for pipebombs
- elevator fun
- great weapon layout
- open area in the middle = lot's of action
- you just seem to always be where the fun is at (many opponents), but you can stray a little to have some cool 1v1 battles, but not so far as to remove you from the action.

I had a trick that required extreme timing, where you could place a lasertripbomb inside a cabinet and make it blow when someone opened it. Great fun! In LA rumble there is a cool spot where you get steroids, and you can perform it here. But you need to time several steps really well, and be able to jump inside as well. Kinda hard, but worth it!

Sorry george but im gonna run astray here for abit but how many have used kali, thats what i played duke on the most, when you answer tell you fav maps to keep it on topic also. Fav maps for me were mostly user maps for deathmatch , coop i used all that came with duke3d

I only play on Hollywood Holocaust... the best map in my opinion.. The reason: Well placed items, dont have all the weapons (some of then kill the gameplay) perfect layout... etc.. Its a strategic map, not just an "arena" or something like that.
Redlight is a camper map, and map control is possible.
La rumble is really nice but have easy map control too. (Only 1 steroids in the map)
Hotel Hell, another "map control" map... Only 1 steroids, only 1 shotgun, only 1 jetpack, 2 atomic healths in the same place...
Stadium is all open and have a lot of weapons, NO STRATEGY, i hate this map.
Freeway is nice, but to be perfect it need some changes in the layout...
Duke burger is nice, i like to play with the expander in DM matches

The best maps is the ones with strategy, maps with full open space and a lot of ammo and etc are noob-maps in my opinion.

I did most of my DukeMatching on Duke Nukem 64 with my friends and little brother..... but its basically the same thing.

1) LA Rumble
2) Hotel Hell
3) Stadium (I prefer the DN64 version)
4) Freeway (again I prefer the DN64 version)
5) Piracy (DN64 version rocked!)
6) Castle Dukenstein (obviously DN64)

I personally didn't like Dukematch on Stadium. It was insane, and thanks to the super auto-aim of the pistol, other weapons were hardly ever used.

Oh man... I LOVED playing dukematch on that map. Without a doubt the best DM'ing came from that level alone.

As for official maps... I'd go with duke burger being my favorite.

PS: My favorite weapon in DM was the .50cal sniper rifle from zero hour. Followed by the ever popular pipe bomb.

Am I allowed to modify original duke maps? I just need to put some special useractors in them to make em playable in my TC

Rapid Transit was THE dukematch level for my friend and i. We modified it and added a third station.

LA Rumble was great too.

1: Duke Burger (Places to hide, much fun with setting up laser trip bombs behind doors etc, and many things to mess with)
2: L.A. Rumble (Very non-linair level, many high places to stand, nice with a high amount of dukers)
3: Hollywood Holocaust (Smart level design, easy to start with but hard to master, great item placement)
4: Red Light District (I had so much fun duelling in this level because you can hide around anywhere and do whatever you want)
5: Overlord (Nice atmosphere, great weapon placement, surely the best map to get a kill)

Oh, I won't place a number6 but I really liked 'The Queen' with the awesome 'Duke Tag' game. I was lolling so laudly when I figured out how to play that with a small group of players...

I also recall another level that had four teleporters lined up so that if you fired an RPG into a teleporter the RPG would endlessly fly through the teleporters until a player walked into it.

Yeah Overlord has got many corridors and hallways that are different from the other levels for some reason, a hard but fun map.

I haven't played much online... In fact, i only think i tried with friends on a local server... But the maps i liked were:

- Hollywood Holocaust
- Red Light Destrict
- Hotel Hell
- Raw Meat
- LA Rumble

I can't really remember many more levels i tried... Rest was just Coop through the game, which isn't really concidered as Deathmatch

Not to mention that Overlord was by no means linear. You could go any way you wanted.

Hollywood Holocaust and Red Light District were pretty fun. Although part of the fun part with Red Light District blowing up the building.

I believe LA Rumble and Fahrenheit were two others that I frequently saw on my loads screen during Duke matches.

Hard to believe this shit happened like 12 years ago though.

Fav maps were all from the first episode, mainly for the fact that i could only afford the demo for such a long time. LOL. Used to be a real pain when the explosion went off in Redlight district my 486 couldnt handle it :-P
