I guess the isp wasn't to happy about being used as a file server, guess you will have to use the mirrors.

I tryd downloading the new file and it's is actually the 75MB pack

Going to remove it tho, i don't want to loose the web page just yet.

They only link to my mirror, though. I hope there are going to be more mirrors. Do we have a list of mirrors for the total pack to I can mail it to them. I don't think quite a bit of bandwidth isn't a problem, but 10.000 people downloading 77Mb from my site is going to piss my ISP off.

So, can somebody create a torrent? It sounds like a good idea but I have no idea how to do that.

Also it's kind of difficult to keep track of different versions.

Hehe, yea we need to figure out a better way to spread the packs.

Starting from the light version of theis release they will be named with date to make it easier to see witch version it is.

Niether me or killd a ton knew it was going to be downloaded so much. I think we might need to get a site hosted somewere as its home were we kan put links to all mirrors and then just spread the link to that page instead.

If anyone can help make hosting/mirroring the files a bit smother contact either me or killd a ton.

Why not upload the whole uncompressed tree somewhere and use a file synchronization tool to get the latest files ? You could also think of a Web interface which could be used to submit new replacements and browse them.
It's easy to do, and I've got both storage and will to code stuff like that.

Also sounds like a good plan, but it sounds kind of compicated. I can still offer webspace if you might need it.

For now I'll keep everything on the server untill we implemented a better way or untill my ISP kills the files.

The only two mirrors so far are yours and Charlie's.

I've been maintaining a small webpage for a while now that links to almost anything related to Jonof's port. So I'm keeping a list of mirrors there,

http://members.shaw.ca/k_saunders/dn...#completepacks

But, I don't have enough room to host anything. My internet provider only gives me three 10mb accounts.

Also, is it possible that someone here could make up a sepreate pack for all the Atomic Edition map hacks? I'm pretty sure I have everything in that pack, and don't really want to download it all again.

Here is the light pack.

This pack is for people with slow computers that have trouble running the regular version. When testing it on a pII 450 mhz with 384mb ram, and a geforce 4 mx it was barely playable with the regular pack and fully playable with lower version of pack. Anything below this probably needs to use the light version while higher spec pc can use the higher versions. All that difers from the original version is the texture size and all textures that has no alpha being 8bit png in this version. A tip to make it run faster is to turn shadows off.

Changelog
Hi guys! I have already posted this in another thread but I guess it´s better placed here: This stuff needs version numbers and a changelog, like everything else that gets updated.

Has there been an update to the pack since its first release anyway?

Re: Changelog
It was suposed to be dated but it sliped by when we made the release. So the date will be the version number. You will not see new versions of this pack more then a few times per year since we dont want to make a new version until there is enough new stuff to warant a complete redownload. We will se about also making patches but there is already fairly much work putting togheter the pack as it is so not going to promise anything.

Re: Changelog
Sounds sensible to me. You can´t just update the whole thing every time one releases a new model, e.g. the recently released HoloDuke (not to speak of updated versions of models already existing). Smaller patches to the whole thing seem to offer a fair compromise, while this still demands some attention to all the corresponding forum threads to remain up-to-date.

Missing models till now
I just noticed latest files in the pack are dated Jan 26, 2005. This would mean that right now (Feb 2), only

- HoloDuke (by mean person) and
- Bowl (by Tea Monster - is this actually used in-game?)

are missing (at least concerning the models). Not so much after all!

Yea parker where did you get thows models, they rock.

the version number can be seen in the add/remove programs when you click on "support information", volowing versions will carry the number in the file name and do a check to see if a newer version is already installed.

Re: Changelog
Would you guys be interested in something like this :
  • Replacements, maphacks and hacked CONs are submitted by the community on a central website, allowing replacements to be browsed and downloaded separately
  • A piece of software syncs with the server to automatically download replacements that you don't have

As I've stated before, this is pretty easy to do and only requires basic scripting (both client and server side though). I find that handier than multiples archives and patches, but I'll do it only if some are interested in submitting latest additions (I can't let random guys submit stuff since everything submitted would be downloaded by the client-side software and I don't want to end with people spammed by trash).

it sounds likke a god idea for dev,

about a patch, it abit of a problem as all textures and models are in one big zip to speed up the installer speed, the patch would be 99% the same size as a full install :/

Since I am working on my own, personal modifications to it, I am not keen on having any kind of automatical update, nor server synchronisation system. Leave that crap to STEAM. All I want is to have the freedom to decide myself on what and when to update, or not to.
