Cant use scope/zoom--Help!

For some reason I cant use the scope on my sniper rifle. I equip the rifle & hit use but the scope doesnt come up-Any idea on whats wrong?

You can't zoom or you can't even get the scope to your view? Try pushing the Use button again.

The funny thing is the use button works-I can walk up to a cabinet & hit use & the cabinet will open, but when I equip the sniper rifle & hit use it does nothing
