Major Problem running Rise of the Triad: The Hunt Begins Deluxe Ed.
I've had this game for a while and I can't seem to run it. I have no recollection of how I use to run it.
I have the original cd-rom and a real dos machine. The main problem is the soundfx not music. When I select adlib for sound effects it sounds bizarre and incorrect or I get no sound at all with the other options . It doesn't except the highest sound card for some reason even though mine is pretty good (Adlib or higher sound options always work on most dos games). The music and graphics are spot on with a Soundblaster 16 ( I think. I almost forgot..) and a good card. I can't seem to run it on Dosbox on my Xp at all. It can't install onto my hard drive for some reason. What is the way to run this game with proper soundfx without compromising anything else?

Re: Major Problem running Rise of the Triad: The Hunt Begins Deluxe Ed.
I'm not a soundblaster fan, and integrated audio using Realtek, Sigmatel, etc. has always been a headache for me. I have a cheap C-media chipset PCI add in card. It may not be the best audio solution going but it's always worked well with the Dosbox and newer games that I've had, and the music input/output quality is always great too. I forgot the configuration on those old games but I always find something that works.
I had an Audigy2 a long time ago that cost me alot that burned itself out, and since then I've just bought the C-Media generics on the cheap. I suppose I've been tarnished and not really understood any significant difference in quality.
