Duke Nukem Forever install problem ?

hi guys,
i have a problem.when i try to install the DNF a steam client pops up and asks me to register but i can't register it says 'could not connect to database' ? why ? i have a proper internet connection.whats the problem?i tried to update steam but it doesnt workis there a way to bypass steam while installing the game?help me plz. ps:game is original.
