mp2 jerky motion... what could it be?
Hi all,

I'm ripping my hair out over this problem with mp2:
While looking around with the mouse, the game will stutter and slow down randomly, and then go back to normal speed. It's sort of like watching a web cam as it's panning. If I set all high settings, this stuttering occurs all the time, and you can't play the game.

At the lowest possible settings, this still occurs, but barely, and still enough to still hate playing the game. Things will move normally, and every few seconds there's a slight jerkiness while looking around.

Now, at the lowest possible settings, with NO sound, it plays fine.

But at 'medium' settings, with NO sound, it's stuttering again, but of course not as bad as 'high' settings.

I've got the latest mp2 patch installed, and here are my 'puter specs:

athlon 1900
GeForce4 4400ti
512Mb pc2100
soundblaster live!
512Mb swap file on a different hdd than the os
windows xp +sp2 +dx9c
latest nvidia, soundblaster, and mobo drivers
and there's only one program running while playing mp2: norton antivirus

There's no irq conflict with the sound and vid cards.
And please note, this pc has run other games just fine on high 'medium' settings, or low 'high' setttings.
Ie: Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Doom3, NFS3, Halo, the first Max Payne, UT2004, and others.

What could be wrong? Any ideas yall? Thx in advance
