3D engining?
As some of you know, I'm trying to create an alternative to the Build engine, with support of all the usual Build files.
This is mainly for Duke3D. I'll be adding all stuff Matt did put in 2.1 of EDuke, as I belive I'm one of those who realy figured out how to use it. My new engine will support BMP, tga, AVI and other alternative image formates. So far BMP, AVI (max 800MB) and MP3 support has been added. Also, I hope to be able to add Voxels as well as true support for Room Over Room. Alternatively we'll get to play with matrices for use as surfaces - skies, water, hills, etc But I need some help from others who have knowledge on the map format. What I need is ideas on how to draw the floors/ceillings. I don't like the way they are now, what I need is a clue on how other people has got around this issue: HOW HAVE YOU CREATED FLOORS/CEILLINGS?

Re: 3D engining?
Firstly I'd say BMP is the worst format EVAR - I hope it's only there for testing purposes.
If you're going to use AVI I would hope you're going to include DivX support and I would suggest oggvorbis support too as it's a popular alternative to MP3. I've been saying it like 10 gazillion times but no one will listen when I say floors are the problem with alternate rendering API's. The question becomes - what API are you using?

Re: 3D engining?
Methinks that MattH guy's build editor would be a good place to start, assuming the source is available.

Re: 3D engining?
Well, lots of people has asked for it over the years, so I decided to leave it for programmers to use it or not.
Yep, DivX is supported, as long as your computer supports it. I forgot to mention that my game is using DirectX, so you need that too. Oh I forgot: EAX sound support, Force feed Back on Joysticks, and a lot of other stuff I can't remember,,, I don't belive the source for GL Build is avalible to the public, but I may be wrong,,,
