Re: 3D Realms invaded
pretty darn good use of photoshop, guys. you ALMOST had me... but tip seems to always be in the foreground, not touching anything. the use of shadows was very well done, but I noticed a few spots where it seems to be not quite right. You must have some very bright lights projected to get shadows like that....
also, why isn't Tip in on the "arms-over-shoulders and growling"? if those two were making faces for a picture, I'd probably be standing next to them (not in front) and making a face of my own (even if they didn't want me touching them in their arms-over-shoulders growling hug.) it looks like he just doesn't belong with the two people behind him, like he's posing in front of a cardboard cutout, or is a cardboard cutout being posed around the office. (now that I think of it, its more the latter, since he's too expressionless.. if i were at 3dr headquarters, I probably wouldn't be able to sit still for a picture, let alone pose so... emotionless, deadpan.) now, I suppose its possible you really did go there, and I'm just imagining anomalies in the pictures.... but I'm paranoid by nature, and it just seems a bit off. my immediate response to seeing the image and hearing the story was one of disbelief... plus, I know Joe likes messing with our heads every now and then (pretty little flowers and music, anyone?)

Lucky Bastards!
My brother used to live in Dallas. I could have made a trip then. Damnitt! Btw, I hereby announce my undying loathing, hatred and envy for these two- which shall be revoked when they tell me whatever they've learned about DNF. Btw, what's GTI? That duke pic showed a board with "Duke Nukem for GTI" so I was wondering. GT Interactive? Augh, I hate my life!

Re: 3D Realms invaded
Man you did it all wrong. If it were me I would have made a bigger joke out of it.
First of all you walk in with an empty pizza box with some old broken hard drive in it. You open it and ask for DNF. After you let them know you are kidding and go about your business taking pictures etc. you post them here like you did, only you tell the forum people you got to play DNF. ----------- BTW, how long were you there before they made you leave? Also Joe, you guys need to get one of those steel doors you lock, and just open a little slide panel to look out and ask who is there. If these people have done it, who knows what other people might show up. Some might decide to be a little more persistant about seeing DNF. A Although I don't see what the harm would have been to let them see it as long as they checked their camera at the door. You could always deny everything and make them out as crazies. It is cool that you guys let them in and hang out instead of turning them away, or just talking to them at the door for a few minutes and then asking them to leave. Tip looks like he fits in when I look at those pics. If he knows how to do anything maybe he has a better chance of getting hired since he has met them and everything. I think thats how Weider got his job. [ 10-16-2002, 03:31 AM: Message edited by: LeadBullet ]

Re: 3D Realms invaded
BobTheDog,
There are too many big-time nerds in our neighborhood to choose from, and all of 'em are hardware. But you should check out nVidia's new building, only a year or so old, it is located on San Tomas at Walsh ave. - or see Apple's old HQ bldg on Saratoga-Sunnyvale, if it's still there, totally butt-ugly bldg imho. Looks like a giant Apple II inspired monstrosity of architecture. Then there's IBM's silicon valley HQ, near my home on Cottle Rd. across from the OSH near 85 (oh and theres a stuft pizza there too). National Semi, on Central ex near Scott, nothing to write home about. Creative Labs on first St. south of Montague, non-exciting. Intel somewhere up here in Sunnyvale, I think it's near the ill-fated ESL complex. Or the old HP HQ on El Camino right off of Lawrence, looks like a "Mannix" set. Unfortunately none of those clowns are really worth visiting. |

Too bad the Longhorns are coming up here to get their butts beat this Saturday, or I'd come down to the offices and gloat in front of Lee.
And for the record, I don't think that Tip and Inanimate found out anything about DNF. Nice try though!

Re: 3D Realms invaded
Man, I would never have the guts to do that. If I tried I would probably only get as far as the side of the street outside the building, and end up pacing around and giggling until someone walked out of the building, at which point I would run away. With that being said, you two are now official the coolest guys on the forums, with the possible exception of Joe3DR, because he goes there everyday.

Hey, once you start betraying 3D Realms' confidence and spill the beans on DNF (or whatever you know of it) you shouldn't even be allowed out of your cage. Get back in there!
And I hope 3D Realms knows that of course this will open the floodgates for visitors! Tip and Inanimate should have gotten away with some official 3DR hats or something |
