I wonder, is this even fixable in a patch? Seems pretty simple. They just have to give us the correct Beretta shooting animation. Although they didn't say anything about fixing it. I hope they're working on it. To me, this is more important than the modding tutorials since this is a very basic part of the game while modding is like an added bonus.

I assume they have the correct animation file lying around somewhere or that it'd take like 5 minutes to make. They could just put it up for download and we could incorporate it into our mods. Of course the ideal is that they release the fix in a patch which hopefully won't be too long from now.

Indeed. Please patch it. Patch it soon. I can respect that you are a little embarassed that it slipped by, that you would perhaps like to tie it in with other "serious" fixes in the hopes of quietly correcting your mistake without announcing it to the world.

But really, you gotta fix it. Fix it not with a mod, but with a patch, and do this as soon as is humanly possible.

Man you really want it don't you, lol. I do too, but with me it's because I have almost like an obsessive compulsive disorder. If a game or mod I'm playing doesn't feel 'finished' I don't feel like playing it until I know I have it just right. Very frustrating to live like this. Right now that Beretta slide is the last thing I want to fix and then I'm content with the way I have my game set up.

My chief concern with it being a mod is this: What if mod makers are lazy about integration? I don't want to have the slide work in some mods and not in others.

You can either:

A. Unras the mod, put in the new animation, and then recompile.
Or
B. Put it in C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Max Payne 2\data\database\weapons\Beretta

If it was mod-fix or no fix at all, I'd take the mod-fix gladly. But if it's just a time issue, I'm patient, at least if it would mean a patch.

The problem with a mod is that it only works if you load the game with that particular mod, but it wont load with another mod, eg say a custom DMW map.

U can also just creat a map in the MP2-folder, called "data". MP2 will use the files of the data-folder, instead of the data-files in the current mod.

This does not excuse you Remedy (if you're even still reading this thread) from making a proper fix for the slides. I really don't like the other stuff that mod does, and although Vash's pic doesn't show it, there is sometimes a gap between the slide and the frame of the gun in that mod.

Yeah, I even managed to fix it so that it works with the duals, but I'd still rather have Remedy make an official fix for it.

Ya Coolman01 did it in his Deep Blue Mod. I made a little mod containing only the file that fixes the beretta slide. I don't know if it works with dual beretta's too, I'll look into that. So all the credit goes to Coolman01 for making this. But yes, Remedy should fix it in a patch.

If we can fix this particular "gap", the mod would be worth making as a temporary measure while we wait for this hypothetical patch that no one from Remedy has promised us.

I just realized, the slides don't work in the cutscenes either.

It's one glitch...and the rest of the game is pretty much perfect. That's what makes it so annoying.

Well, it's your call. They certainly know about this thread. I think we're not getting any updates at the moment because they are busy wrapping up the console versions. Wouldn't it be oh so (not) funny if the slide moved in the xbox and ps2 versions?

Hopefully Remedy feels sympathy for us, and won't need too much of a fire lit under them to fix it once they have the time.
