Re: Multi floored buildings
Sprites. That's how I do it, and it looks great if you do it right... but... maybe you should try R.O.R + Sprites... dunno. Maybe teleporters..

Re: Multi floored buildings
Well a little more info would be nice as to what kind of multi floor you want. ie, exterior, interior or both.

Re: Multi floored buildings
just build a sector over another sector. You could also build the upper floor and then move it so that it is over the bottom floor (check the z plane!) and then connect the outside windows.
«word of caution» the program has a little problem with showing sector over sector. If you were to put a window to the outside in your 2nd floor and one to the outside on the bottom floor and have each one visible at the same time, the 2 windows would seem like the inside is scrambled. You can get around this by not letting both floors be seen at the same time (ie: one side of house only has windows to the top and another side has windows to the bottom) ------------------ "I'm a doctor, not a computer." - DeForest Kelley |

Check out and analize my Yardwar.map, available at better DN3d sites everywhere. Think curtains. They can help.

Re: Multi floored buildings
Start out by making your basic building or house(a white one sided sector). Make your bottom floor(a second white one sided sector inside the 1st sector), put in any walls or any other child sectors that you might use for furniture or boxes and the like.
Then off the map in a dead space, make your second floor and raise the sector(with pgup). If you want it to be directly above the 1st floor, make sure the floor(z coordinance) is at least 4 clix(pgup) above the 1st floor ceiling. Before you move that sector, put in any walls and child sectors. If you don't, when you move the 2nd sector in place, you will run into problems making child sectors on the right floor. When your ready to move the sector, enclose the sector using the cursor and the shift key. Make sure that all vertices are flashing or they all won't move. Move the sector in place, then add other sectors to connect the 2 floors with a stair way or an elevator. Make sure when you make the floors, that you leave space to add stairs or evelators. Hope that helps. [This message has been edited by Ding Bat (edited 05-25-2000).] |

Re: Multi floored buildings
Another way is to use teleporters from one floor to another.
You can make a 20 level buiding with this method. Just make all the floors you want, make teleporters to all of them. Then move them all on top of each other. Don't try to take them apart after this though. This is a crap way of making mult-levels.
