"Large" doesn't necessarily mean "tacticless."

I think it should start like after the credits, but the story should not be ANYTHING like prey 1. I'm still getting over the fact they had the balls to announce they'd be making another. Corporate greed pah!
But it's better then the opening in most games IMO.

If i think about it, the interactivity was probably there to fill time, as in the opening sequence, yo had to wait sometimes for jen to come over, or wolves to howl, and stuff, so all the interactive stuff might just have been there to give you something to do.

Well, they didn't put it in there just to see if it was possible.

No, I think it should be different, and worse.

I loved the start of the game, I like how it is all "Normal" then you get dragged into something you can't control. I just wish the start was longer :P

Re: What would you like to see in Prey 2?
My personal preferences :

1) RTS base building that needs to harvest resources to construct a mammoth device which Tommy uses to climb aboard an Alien spaceship that is immobile on some Alien planet that Tommy has just warped to.
2) once the device has been constructed, immediate switching to hack'n slash mode where Tommy has to fight hoards of Aliens before being able to mount the device.
3) after mounting the device, immediate switching to Tomb Raider mode where Tommy must climb, swing and move items around to reach the top of the device.
4) reaching the top of the device, Tommy enters the Alien spaceship thereby triggering immediate switching to 1st person mode to wipe out all Aliens in classic FPS style.

That's 4 games in 1.....do that if you can !

Re: What would you like to see in Prey 2?
Some random ideas/suggestions:

1. Heavily more interactive levels(which would probably mean a heavy modification of the Doom3 engine or better, a new engine...). And more varied environments. Just use you’re imagination, there are lots of creative excuses to come up with great environments, even if the game is space oriented(for example, a giant alien green house could spice up the colours, also travels back to earth could introduce breaks from the dark space/doom3 design).

2. If you aim for emotions(as Scott Miller says) I would recommend spending more serious time on character development(and character rendering/expressions perhaps).
For character/story "immersion", Prey could have started by getting a glimpse of Tommy working as a mechanic, getting a phone call from Jen and then watch him drive to Jen's bar were the camera follows him to the bathroom and the game starts.
Such small details, can mean all the difference, that makes it all more captivating and the story more believable.
Prey, IMO, felt a little too rushed/down prioritised in the character/story department, unfortunately...

3. New spirit abilities and new Portal tricks, as well as an enhanced deathwalk world(perhaps more worlds?).

4. New weapons(some of them should perhaps be cherokee inspired, to support the indian roots in the game). More spirit weapons could be fun too.

5. A new girlfriend/companion(s)?

6. New vehicles or perhaps some horseback riding(how about a spirit horse, that Tommy can summon! )

Re: What would you like to see in Prey 2?
1) Bots for multiplayer!

2) As stated earlier, if forming an emotional attachment to the npcs is important you have to invest more time into developing them though cutscenes or interaction.

3) EASTER EGGS! I can understand the need for a game to be linear(even if I'm not a big fan of that) but please add some hidden areas to give the player a reason to explore every nook and cranny.

4) More Earthbound levels. I'm so sick of alien architecture I can feel the vomit edging up my esophagus.

5) Sprint button.

6) Stealth factor - meaning I want to atleast have the chance to sneak up on enemies if I choose to.

7) Please have some gunfights occur from opposite sides of portals. If you're going to invest the time to develop that tech you might as well use it for more than just a fancy doorway.

Cool Re: What would you like to see in Prey 2?
upgradeable weapons !

for example you can put 2 organic weapons together into a mighty one. should look awesome!

and for the spirit walk a hyper jump or something like bullet time.

Basically it's....should there be an engaging, interactive beginning or straight into story and action?

then I vote for interactive beggining in story and action.. one doesn't make the other impossible.. just more difficult to make(cause the devs have to think more then )
I like when you are in a game and there is somekind of story interaction all along..
exemple(of something that doesn't do that ).. in prey 1, when you are in a bar, we talk with grandpa dude, and we learn about the past present and futur of the main characters..and then all allong in the game it,S always present present and present.. if you keep the past present and futur story developpement, it helps keep the story alive with immersion ..IMO..

fps today looks too much like old fps in time of doom.. when you read the story in a text before starting the game where at this point it's only action and no more story..it sure got better a bit.. but not enough..

but then again, prey's event all happened so fast(too fast?) it didn't leave much room for story developpement other than the present action "developpement"..

Re: Prey 2 discussions
I'd like to see the ghostchildren aspect fleshed out more, I found them to be incredibly creepy, cool and well done (the schoolbus was just awesomely done) and was really looking forward to seeing how the ghostthing would evolve but no such luck instead they just attack you like twice after the schoolbus and then for no apparent reason they just never show up again which imo was a shame because I was really expecting some cool story twist or a gigantic ghostboss explaining why you were reasponsable for their appearence and subsequent disappearence but as the game stands now they're there one moment and then they just don't show up anymore without any logic behind it all, ok so their probably escaped spirits from the deathwalk game but how come they all of the sudden manifest themselves in the sphere? And why do the manifestation just stop without any explanation?

Other things I'm looking forward to in Prey II are:
- more spirit powers
- bigger more varied bosses and enemies
- new and original levels (not just a samey looking sphere orbitting some new unknown earthlike planet)
- even cooler weapons
- more portal/spirit/gravity based puzzlerooms
- a longer singleplayer campaign
- a more interesting death walk minigame instead of doing the same damn thing over and over
- a decent multiplayer portion that's actually playable on 360.

Re: Prey 2 discussions
I agree with a lot thats been said here. Mainly for me it felt that PREY I was rushed out, or just incomplete. A lot was left open (like the ghosts things previously mentioned, or the 7 trials or whatever) or dumbed down (tips, spirit walk sign everywhere you need to). Also, the vehicle was BORING, slow, and not FUN to use.. The AI was also incredibly weak. The final boss can be killed by just running around ONE of those balloon makers...

I also felt like the character development was NOT deep enough. You're in the bar, and you're like JEN, COME AWAY WITH ME... and she's all I LIKE IT HERE =\ and then the rest of the game, you're supposed to believe that this girl you're chasing to save you actually care about..

And like someone else mentioned, if he's in such a frenzy to save her, you'd think he'd walk a little faster! A sprint section of the game would've been really interesting I think.

Anyways, additions I hope to find in Prey II:
-Portal mines in multiplayer. Just really limit them so that people can't easily abuse them. Time limit on them, proximity requirements (have to be a certain distance apart/distance limited)
-More weapons!
-More enemy types
-Longer single player campaign
-Deeper character development if we're meant to care for them
-Similar but different death walk minigame
-Enemies attacking from other sides of portals
-More spirit powers (grandpa's SHIELD!)
-FUN vehicles.
-BOTS for multiplayer
-More multiplayer game types! CTF with the alt fire of rocket launcher would be INSANE!

-More character development (I think Prey would have benefited greatly if it was just a bit more fleshed out imo).

-A couple of new weapons, or possibly a different set altogether since he might/will be on a completely different world with different enemies

-More spirit powers (Yes Enisi's shield could have been part of the 7 trials powers possibly)

-And last but not least, much more complex use of puzzles, especially concerning the use of portals (providing they're still in of course )

This would help to make Prey 2 feel more fleshed out and much more solid in terms of design. I actually found the second half of the game to really pick up in terms of feel, and hope that Prey 2 follows suite. Still, it'll be a while before we really know anything.
