I just recently DL the jfSW, it was working great up untill i keep running into these game crashes that dont give me an error box after putting me back into windows, is there a more up to date version of jfSW? I couldn't seem to find any btter ones or patches etc.

Re: Annoying Issues with jfSW
Try ProAsm's Swp.exe.

Re: Annoying Issues with jfSW
Jono is doing the whole "life" thing so as of right now all updates to the Build ports is on hold.
as stated above, proasm's is a better port, but not nearly as usable as the ports for Duke3d (such as EDuke32)

Re: Annoying Issues with jfSW
Well, maybe you did something silly?
When you say you reinstalled everything, does that mean you completely deleted the folder? swp.exe may not run with the old config file(could be wrong here), and it most probably won't run with older save games. Or maybe you just have to check the settings with setup.exe? Other than that, I don't know. It has been some time since I played it, and I can't remember any problems, at least not with the swp builds... |

Re: Annoying Issues with jfSW
I didnt use the OLD.cfg file because i know it causes problems, i did a fresh install, along with putting the app back into place, its directly in he C:\SW folder and not in a seperate one, the 1st time i tried this it WAS in its own folder, but both times, i cannot get the sound to work. Also Setup doesnt do anything with it either.

Re: Annoying Issues with jfSW
Okay, I see now. I downloaded SWP, and had the same problem you had. The sound menu was disabled. I didn't know swp doesn't include a setup.exe, certainly the original DOS setup won't help much. Also, starting SWP.exe with the '-setup' parameter didn't work.
So, what I did: I downloaded jonof's port and only used the setup.exe included there, which enabled sound for me. I still had to fiddle with both the sound menu ingame and the config file though, to enable sound and cd music. But now it works! You can try it this way, or you can try my attached config file. Note that I haven't configured the controls there, set them to your liking. |
