American Sniper

Went and saw it in theaters this weekend.
Was great. Yes, I know it's not completely accurate... and it leaves out a lot of the more negative things about him, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a damn good movie.

I never heard of flashbacks of fool but sounds like an interesting project, probably would work better as a short film then a feature, not that I know which it is. I give props for people to try different things, but yes going into it without context can make for a disappointing experience.
---------------------------
I saw;
L.A. Confidential (1997)

I saw this as a young teen, and thought it was interesting. I saw this just recently and thought it was stellar. What amazing script, actors and overall film.

Cyperpunk and Noir are my favorite Genres, so being played in the 50's after the war is a favored setting for me and it definitely had elements I enjoy.
I now realize how heavily L.A. Noir took inspiration for all sorts of Noir movies and movies of that time. It's like the creators of Rockstar checked what where the best noire movies and took elements of each. Which is funny because after watching LA NOIRE I figured for a favorite genre I haven't watch much of it. So digged up a list and found all sorts of inspiration in the movies I saw.

Which mind you is a good thing because it's good, but also makes LANOIRE slightly derivative, but luckely still it's own story and thing.

For those who haven't seen it, or it's been a really long time, I recommend it.
If you like LA Confidential, make sure to check;
Chinatown (1974)
The Untouchables (1987)

Gotta love Henry Silva, he's playing the bad guy.

Oh, and Steven Seagal runs like a girl.
Pay attention when you see him running in this movie, very strange indeed.

Saw it about a week ago.

I enjoyed it more then the first. Found the writing to be better, dialog was vastly improved... the actions scenes were better, camera work overall was better.

But, that's not saying much as I personally think the first Avengers is horribly overrated. It's not bad... but, in the world of the Marvel Universe... it's... meh. Okay. But nothing special.
But, I've always felt Joss Whedon was an overblown director. Everyone throws all this praise to him because of Firefly... and, to me, the best thing he's ever done was 'Cabin in the Woods'.

Maybe Avengers 3 will be better since he's not directing and the guys that did Cap American: Winter Soldier are doing it. Because that movie was pretty awesome.

Heh I figured everyone had already seen it. I only posted the link in case anyone wanted to get a discussion going. Glad you liked it (most of it anyway).
Didn't have a problem with that particular <spoiler> bit myself. Provided more absurdity in its portrayal. I find myself enjoying the soundtrack too. Even the Hasselhoff track.

Nomads (1986)

This is another one of those movies where the main character dies at the beginning and the rest of the story focuses on retelling the events leading up to that moment. This film offers a twist on that formula, however. And somewhat of a shock ending, I suppose. It's interesting. Could have used a few revisions. A nice diversion if you're burned out on superhero movies.

Oh yeah, its great, but its pretty dumb

Does it retcon the events of the first movie? I cant tell really, like at the end of the first one the cameras zooms into Ash then it ends, then that happens near the beginning of the second one, but he's only there with his girlfriend, not a group of four
