SWP and Windows 7
Has anyone else tried SWP in Windows 7? I've tried it with the 32 bit and 64 bit RC and the game stutters horribly, with or without the HRP stuff. It is after a fresh install of the system, with the latest ATI catalyst drivers. The game worked fine in XP.
I'm sure my computer can handle it Core 2 Quad @ 2.66 4 ghz DDR3 256mb video card, old, but still good Edit: the game doesn't stutter if I change the color to 8-bit, but of course, big parts of the screen turn pink

Re: SWP and Windows 7
What version Swp do you have as I believe the latest works better in win 7.
You'de also be better off asking here and get the latest version etc. http://www.jonof.id.au/forum/index.php?board=13.0

Re: SWP and Windows 7
Yeah, the audio's rather starchy, from what I found, wonder if that may be corrected soon. Of course, my CD-ROM I believe is only Version 1.0 (it's a launch edition CD-ROM that I got way back when). Perhaps I'll update the patch to 1.2 and see if that helps. Looks like most of the files are dated August 25, 1997, so yeah...it could use a patch or two.

Re: SWP and Windows 7
Good...is it possible that EDuke32's Mapster32 program is interchangeable with SWP for mapping for SW? Or would Mapster32 have to be rewritten and recompiled? I'm curious, because I prefer mapping in Mapster32 vs. that of JonoF's Build or SWPBuild, it's just overall easier to use, since it measures out sectors for you, and makes things just perfect, imo. On top of that, you have real-time sound and motion preview on top of that, so all the more reason to ask if this can be done.

Re: SWP and Windows 7
Cannot be done else it would have been done long ago.
SwpBuild is about all so far till I get time to expand it further.

Re: SWP and Windows 7
All right, thanks...must've gotten too used to the EDuke32-style of Windows Port modding. On top of that, being an UnrealEd mapper, Mapster32 is almost on par with UT3's UnrealEd in terms of what they've done with the Build technology. It's nice that SWP is using the same old-school tools, but then again...thought SW would've been as easy to mod as Duke was. Ah well.

Re: SWP and Windows 7
I just tested 4.3.1. and the same thing is still happening. My video card is the ancient Radeon X800 GTO, and for some reason, when I start some programs (eduke32 and google earth for instance) it will say GL modes not available. Maybe it's something obvious I'm just not seeing?

Re: SWP and Windows 7
Yes its quite common that ati cards dont support OpenGL.
Get any nVidia card or a new newer ati card.

Re: SWP and Windows 7
I'm looking at this card right here: HIS H577FM1GD Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16
http://www.hisdigital.com/us/product2-490.shtml http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161317 It's supposed to support OpenGL 3.2. Do you think it'll solve the problem? I'm guessing it's good enough

Re: SWP and Windows 7
Go here: http://www.ma-config.com/
Install software Doing the analysis on the site and download the new drivers. (The analysis works only with Internet Explorer) I'll exactly the same problem, and now it works well. Now I could play with DN3D Polymer (but the shadows do not appear, and Doom 3, Prey ...)
