Well there were some disputes over a map that was released some years ago called "Dogville" which was very much like Roch maps. It was released & reviewed at MSDN (scored well above 90) and Pascal got pissed off (the map has since then been removed but I still have it). So I'm not sure if he has worked on any new maps since.

I'm eagerly awaiting Roch9... I used to talk to Pascal quite a bit (mainly to learn where all the little easter eggs were!) and even included a little tribute to him in a map I made of my house, which unfortunately never got released. (It's finished, but I realized too late that some of the art I used was from a fan-made ART pack, and I wouldn't know who to give credit to!)

Yeah, Dogville would be pretty cool to play. I always thought it was made by some random jerks but when I found out it was by Taivo I became interested in it because I know his style (it's good).

It was canceled - because of Dogville. It had striking similiarities to Roch and Pascal got upset about it. I even heard that Taivo had Roch opened on another build.exe and was looking at it while constructing his map.

There's another Roch 'tribute' called Roch Island, which actually doesn't resemble the Roch maps at all and isn't that great... it's mainly "let's throw as many enemies in one place as possible." Come on, it's not a tribute unless it has excessive secret messages

WTF - They're awesome. Roch 5 & Roch 6 (along with ADG episode) were the first user maps (by other people) I've ever played and they really rock.

I'm thinking of replaying several user maps I played like 6 years ago for the first time sometime soon (like the Damned Dam or Aquapark)

I heard it was quite good and got a high score on MSDN, apart from the fact that it's a ripoff of Roch. Dunno though.

I did it last year and he was very kind and replied fast.
He told me he didn't like the ' hires stuff ' too much. He'd rather like the classic Duke.
Anyway he had a minor contribution to the JF port last year. So he is
at least a little bit into Duke.

I didn't ask him if he's into mapping. But last year Alejandro from AMC released a kick ass map based on classic Duke so I can't see that there is a technical reason for not do some mapping.

-Seeing a ROCH 9 would be the greatest happening next to the release of DNF.

Well, I talked to Pascal. Both ROCH9 and ROCH_SC2 exist, but neither of them are finished. (They're both between 75-80% done.)

He said that he no longer has Build, but may finish them someday...

I just played Dogville.... oh yeah, that's DEFINITELY a Roch ripoff. You can tell Pascal's influence was there even from the first room.

Though I noticed one thing was missing - all the random secret messages that Pascal loves to stick in. But the guy must've been considering that... there's a bunch of little DNCLIP-only locations that are just dying to put their two cents in

Pascal's original qualm was that no credits were given. I think if it was specifically called a Roch Tribute, he wouldnt care.

Roch Island is actually a great map despite having little resemblance to Roch; the design is great and everything but it didn't take advantage of Duke's original textures in new creative ways like Roch did.
