A link to a DNF story
A good friend of mine emailed this link to me today.
click here to read the story It brought back allot of fond memories of playing DN3D. I remember playing DN3D with him head to head over the phone line. I can’t believe it’s been that long, man I’m getting old. Anyone else here remember playing DUKE head to head over the phone lines? |

Duke 3d back in the days was kind of hard to play but still fun, funner than doom |

Re: A link to a DNF story
I used to play on the old wireplay network. Iirc you could get up to 8 people in a deathmatch, but for anything over 4-5 it wasn't that stable and would crash often, and it got very laggy, especially since I was on a 33.6k modem.

Re: A link to a DNF story
I was taking about when it first came out I used a 14.4 modem (and I think that was the fastest at the time) to dial direct to my friends computer. It played really nice that way and we used to frag each other until the wee hours of the morning. More than once I remember looking over at the clock and seeing it was like 3:30 in the morning and thinking shit I got to get up to go to work in three hours.
Now those where the days I had never had so much fun it my life up to that point. God I miss that that game was so funny and so much fun to play head to head. I just hope DNF is half the fun as DN3D was and that it comes out in my life time. |

Re: A link to a DNF story
I used to have Duke on my really old laptop, and then hook it up to a mate's computer via the DirectCable hook up! Took bloody ages sometimes to get things working, but DAMN it was fun!!
Just got D3D working in XP! Just gotta dig out some of those old home built levels that I made, now!

Re: A link to a DNF story
I prefer to keep DN3D in my fond memories. There was another game road rash that I used to play many years ago. A few years ago I loaded it up and looking at the sprites it just did not look the same. I fond it hard to believe that I thought that game was awesome (witch it was) it was just dated. With all the improvements in games over the years the old ones just don’t looks the same.
Its kind of like running in to an old girlfriend who was very hot years ago and that you had allot of fun with. But when you run in to her nowadays and see that she has gained a hundred pounds it diminishes the fond memories of all the fun you had with that hot little babe of years ago. |
