If you are a part of Fanedited.com you can see the topic here:
http://www.faneditforum.com/viewtopi...st=0&sk=t&sd=a Otherwise I'll tell you here now what my plan is. I just saw Max Payne and they butchered it. As a stand-alone movie, it was OK, but it's hard not to compare it to the video game and find it so bad compared to it. So, I was thinking of making Max Payne machinima movies. But, I need some help. I need somethings to pull this off. Firstly, I want some kind of cheat that will auto-target my enemies while I'm in free-camera mode, to make the game more cinametic. I also need to reduce or completely eliminate the HUD so it feels more like a real movie and not some video game. I would also like some sounds to be removed, such as the clicking noise that happens when you scroll through your different weapons, and if possible, a way so enemies will never hit me when they shoot. I don't want to cut anything from either game so I want to divide each game into three separate movies. The shorter parts, such as the second part of the original, will be about 1 hour and 30 minutes, while the first part of the original might be 2 or 2 hours and 30 minutes. Overall I want each game to feel like a trilogy. So if anybody knows cheats, hacks, modifications, or anything else that could be used to help me in either game - I beat Max Payne 1 without getting hurt at all - using no cheats, so I know it is possible (but hard!). Or if you just know a really good sceen recorder that is cheap or free and doesn't take up half of your RAM, or could just help in any way I would greatly appeciate it. This is what I want it to be like: Max Payne I: The Rise of Max Payne Trilogy ---------------------------------- Movie I: The American Dream --------------------------- Part I: The American Dream First Prologue Chapter I: Roscoe Street Station Chapter II: Live From the Crime Scene Chapter III: Playing It Bogart Chapter IV: The Blood Veins of New York Chapter V: Let the Gun Do the Talking Chapter VI: Fear That Gives Men Wings Chapter VII: Police Brutality Chapter IIX: Ragnarock Chapter IX: An Empire of Evil 90 minutes/11 parts: 8 minutes 5 seconds per chapter 120 minutes/11 parts: 10 minutes 55 seconds per chapter 160 minutes/11 parts: 14 minutes 30 seconds per chapter Movie II: A Cold Day in Hell ---------------------------- Part II: A Cold Day in Hell Second Prologue Chapter I: The Baseball Bat Chapter II: An Offer You Can't Refuse Chapter III: With Rats and Oily Water Chapter IV: Put Out My Flames with Gasoline Chapter V: Angel of Death 90 minutes/7 parts: 12 minutes 45 seconds per chapter 120 minutes/7 parts: 17 minutes 5 seconds per chapter 160 minutes/7 parts: 22 minutes 45 wseconds per chapter Movie III: A Bit Closer To Heaven --------------------------------- Part III: A Bit Closer To Heaven Third Prologue Chapter I: Take Me to Cold Steel Chapter II: Hidden Truths Chapter III: The Deep Six Chapter IV: Backstabbing Bastard Chapter V: In the Land of the Blind Chapter VI: Byzantine Power Game Chapter VII: Nothing to Lose Chapter IIX: Pain and Suffering 90 minutes/10 parts: 9 minutes per chapter 120 minutes/10 parts: 12 minutes per chapter 160 minutes/10 parts: 16 minutes per chapter Max Payne II: The Fall of Max Payne Trilogy ----------------------------------- Movie I: The Darkness Inside ---------------------------- Previously on Max Payne I Part I: The Darkness Inside First Prologue Chapter I: Elevator Doors Chapter II: A Criminal Mastermind Chapter III: The Depths of My Brain Chapter IV: No 'Us' in This Chapter V: A Sign of Her Passage Chapter VI: A Linear Sequence of Scares Chapter VII: The Million Dollar Question 90 minutes/10 parts: 9 minutes per chapter 120 minutes/10 parts: 12 minutes per chapter 160 minutes/10 parts: 16 minutes per chapter Movie II: A Binary Choice ------------------------- Part II: A Binary Choice Second Prologue Chapter I: The Things That I Want Chapter II: In the Middle of Something Chapter III: Blowing Up Chapter IV: Routing Her Synapses Chapter V: Out of the Window Chapter VI: The Genius of the Hole 90 minutes/8 parts: 11 minutes 15 seconds per chapter 120 minutes/8 parts: 15 minutes per chapter 160 minutes/8 parts: 20 minutes per chapter Movie III: Waking Up from the American Dream -------------------------------------------- Part III: Waking Up from the American Dream Third Prologue Chapter I: Too Stubborn to Die Chapter II: On a Crash Course Chapter III: A Mob-War Chapter IV: Dearest of All My Friends Chapter V: A Losing Game Chapter VI: There Are No Happy Endings Chapter VII: Love Hurts Chapter IIX: That Old Familiar Feeling 90 minutes/10 parts: 9 minutes per chapter 120 minutes/10 parts: 12 minutes per chapter 160 minutes/10 parts: 16 minutes per chapter |

Bit harsh of a response, ain't it? Let the kid do his work. If it turns out right, then so much the better. Another failed project? Then he can at least try to improve with less ambitious projects.

Re: Max Payne 1 + 2: The Rise and Fall of Max Payne Machinima Trilogies
First of all - I thought of doing the exact same things, however, the movements of the max payne character don't feel realistic enough (e.g. when max turns round to should someone - he spins as if he's on a pedestal) and a lot of people wouldn't really be able to keep their eyes on it, plus - the whole thing would be from the same perspective of behind max's head.
WAIT!!! If your thinking of using developer mode to change the angle so that you can view Max from a different perspective, you won't be able to aim as easily as you would in normal view mode because you won't be able to see the crosshair and max will end up shooting like some blind bastard incapable of keeping his arm straight - with parkinsons.... while sneezing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you wanted to do it professionally though, here's a couple of tips... You'll need to extract all the ambient noises and music and mute them while your recording and getting your footage so you can overlay them later on in editing... or else you'll get cracked sounds and sound effects clipping etc... Also - you wouldn't want to record every single second of max payne the game as that would get boring... you could cut from scene to scene using some of the little quotes max says during the game as long as you don't cut out something of importance - like the introduction to a character etc... Also - everyone who DID decide to help with the project would need to record using the same res as everyone else, same detail settings etc... and one person would really need to edit the whole thing together causing hundreds of MB and GB to be sent over the internet lines. Also - you'd need to get rid of the hud - how would you know how much ammo you have if the hud isn't there??? ALSO - For effect - we'd need to find ways to get him to walk and kick and maybe other little commands on how to get him to lie on the floor and pick himself up like he does in the Parking Lot level intro. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SEE... told you I had thought about it - and you were right, the movie was bloody appalling.

Or we could all just play the games.

Re: Max Payne 1 + 2: The Rise and Fall of Max Payne Machinima Trilogies
We've been doing that for years. I wouldn't mind seeing a spin on the Max Payne cutscenes, perhaps filmed from different angles, with new music. Try and make it even more cinematic, somehow replacing the gameplay with planned action sequences.
Doing the whole game, though? You might as well do Episodes, one at a time. |

Re: Max Payne 1 + 2: The Rise and Fall of Max Payne Machinima Trilogies
Episodes at a time would be easier - but again - most of the points I mentioned above will be incredibly difficult to pull off... properly.

Re: Max Payne 1 + 2: The Rise and Fall of Max Payne Machinima Trilogies
I THINK I could do this if I could remove the HUD ... can someone PLEASE help me out on how to remove the HUD? I looked all over the Internet today and didn't find much of anything.
If I have to edit the files myself, I will. Plus, I still can't shoot at all - in alternative camera modes or without the dot on the screen. Urrg.

Re: Max Payne 1 + 2: The Rise and Fall of Max Payne Machinima Trilogies
With developerkeys, developer cheats, and my programs I think I could pull it off.
I have Sony Vegas, so what I'm thinking is that I use developerkeys and slow down time to a standstill after I aim and then I move the camera, let it go slowly and shoot (could make this project MUCH easier). I can cut most of the HUD by simply going widescreen (or what I believe is widescreen) - from the graphic novel scenes/cut scenes. Edit: By the way, every chapter would be like an, "episode". Every episode would be a chapter on the DVD.

Re: Max Payne 1 + 2: The Rise and Fall of Max Payne Machinima Trilogies
And if the enemy decides to roll right or left or there are multiple enemies in the room standing near by to each other????
What then? I have actually tried to do this though with kind of shitty results.... But hey - I wish you the best in this - But your in for a hell of a time getting it the way you want. -------------------------------------------------------- Actually - this might sound like a silly idea but hey - what the hell. Can you get a plug that you could control two computers at the same time??? Hear me out... (You would need 2 monitors though as well) You have two computers. The main (most powerful one) is used to capture the video and to change the video camera angles - The other is used to keep max in the strictly third person view that he is? You use the keyboard to load the max payne game (same save file and stuff) on both computers and then you unplug the keyboard on comp 2 and change the camera angle on comp 1 giving you the ability to view max from a different perspective on one computer and the ability to see where he's aiming on the other computer monitor??? -------------------------------------------------------- At the same time though - I still think the graphics are too outdated to really pull this off. Even the graphics of Max Payne 2 are pretty lousy compared to now. Imagine Max Payne on the Grand Theft Auto Engine - That would be cool - plus you can actually make movies using the in-built video editor.

Quote:
Test it. Use Developerkeys and during a cutscene press 'C' to change game view... What happens??? The characters all reset to a sort of 'ready' position and stop moving. (I know this is a double post - but I only just saw this little bit of info - Wanted to point out that it can't be done. |

Re: Max Payne 1 + 2: The Rise and Fall of Max Payne Machinima Trilogies
Now, follow my idea here...
Could a 'Replay Control Mod' be made? I was just thinking that since you can control the camera if you have developer keys on, if someone could make or direct me on how to make a mod that could make a 'Replay Control Mod'. The name implies on what it does. It would record what happens with no normal HUD (instead replaced by a camera HUD that does not show in the recording). You turn it on, and it records and auto-deletes anything if you get killed. When you are done, you turn it off (again, in the options window) and then in the game or whatever can open the file and then use the camera's HUD to move and save the file again from a different angle, using the rendered spaces that the game has. Is this possible? |
