Hocus Pocus was a terrific game--I have memories of sitting there playing it for hours on end not realizing how long it had been. The game just kept getting better. It's easily one of my all time favorite sidescrollers.

Hocus Pocus had to be one of the best VGA games I had ever seen. It had the best use of colours of any VGA game. I liked everything about it, a very polished game I thought.

thats funny considering it was converted from EGA I would think that that would make the color worse?

Really? I didn't know that. It would make sence though as Clyde's Adventure is an ega game.

I think GateWorld started out as an ega game and was finished as a vga game, because the colors are so bright.

I thought in one of thous old FAQs that came with games they say that they promise they wont delay hocus pocus by converting it to VGA?

I used to play Hocus Pocus in the mid 90's. Very fun an addictive, even though I only had the Shareware.

ya ordering from abroad can be a bit tricky
I ordered death rally when I lived in japan some years ago it came within 3 or 4 days as I recall of corse mail in japan is very quick I had a frend use there credit card though bank transfer would have taken qwite some time to clear

Yeah. I've never ordered anything from abroad before. I've been meaning to order something from 3DR (mouse pad, a couple of classic games, etc), but I'm not all that sure due to my bank

Hocus Pocus is a fun game...I remember playing it off an old shareware compilation cd.

He wears the same clothes as in this picture.

But I haven't seen Hocus wear those clothes in the game, so I guess it's from a beta version.

That picture with the tied up monks is indeed from the beta. You see it when you complete the first episode - back in the days when Hocus wasn't a wizard and thus didn't dress in the stylish purple robes.

As for the picture of the three headed thing... that is so cool. I'm not even sure if a single thing in the picture is actually in the game.

I remember playing this game on my buddys 286 back in grade 7. Jesus, thats almost 10 years ago now. His 286 was horribly outdated but hey it had the latest version of dos on it! Then he got his 386. This is right around the time I got my pentium 100 with 16 megs(!) of ram and a gig of hard drive space,"I would never use in my entire life".

Hocus Pocus ran a little faster on the 386, but it was still too cracked out for me.

I'm pretty sure Apogee never sent boxes when games were purchased direct. Distributers had their own, unique, boxes made (I've got a couple), and games bought in the stores were contained in boxes made by FormGen specifically for distribution in stores.

In other words, the only way to get a game in the "box" you're looking for, you'll either have to find old stock in your favorite super-market, or look on eBay (which can get kinda pricey).

Not an option. Never sold a box version of the vast majority of our games.

Duke Nukem 2, Commander Keen 4... shareware was the best version. The extra episodes were poorly designed, and had bland, reused textures.

Keen 5 was the best, and (imho) the most original, keen of them all.

Did anyone besides me like Keen 6? I still can't believe it wasn't made by the same folks - the gameplay is so similar to the previous Keens!

Both Keen 5 and 6 were definitely my favorites of the lot. I loved the "Bloog" enemies in the sixth one.

What do you mean by that? All PC Commander Keen games were made by the same people. Only Commander Keen GBC was made by someone else.

I thought 6 was made by a different company...
Then again, maybe I'm just...misinformed.
