Problems with collapsing buildings
According to the MapFAQ at Dukeworld, I created a collapsing building, but it doesn't work with a touchplate, a switch doesn't work, and when I use a crack sprite the building instantly falls. I want the effect to work perfectly, since I've been working on this map since April 20. I have the Atomic Edition (1.5). If you could lend your 2 cents...

You need a SPEED sprite in each sector in which you want the speed of fall of the sector to be different.

Add the Masterswitch (sprite 8)to the sectors to use a switch or touch plate.

Re: Problems with collapsing buildings
If you already have the building that is designed to fall, put a sectoreffector sprite, and a masterswitch sprite in the sector(s) of the building. Put a touchplate sprite somewhere else, and give it any lotag you want as long as it hasn't been used before. Give the sectoreffector a lotag of 13 and give it the same hitag as the lotag of the touchplate. Place the cursor on the sectoreffector and hold the Ctrl keyboard button and tap the Page Up key. That will stick it to the ceiling of the sector. Now give all of the masterswitches in these sectors the same lotag as the touchplate. Now put a Seenine tank (Explosive) sprite in front of the building. Give it a hitag of 13 and a lotag of anywhere from 1 to 999,999. Then make the Seenine sprite as thin as you can by using the '6' button on the keypad on the right of your keyboard (This will make it invisible in the game).

Now start the game in that level. Once you step onto the floor of the sector that has the touchplate, the building will fall to it's position in build, and the one Seenine will explode. Once you do that, go back into BUILD and add more Seenines, give them a hitag of 13, and give them a different lotag. I'll post an example as soon as possible. I've got one on my computer that I made.

Here's a map I started that I never finished. I hope this'll help you with it.

http://www.geocities.com/silencer89/Buildblo.zip

Unzip it to your Duke 3D folder and try it out and open it up in build. As soon as you jump out onto the street, the building across from the hotel will explode.

Re: Problems with collapsing buildings
Thanks for the detail about what keys to use, but FYI, I've been working with Blood, Shadow Warrior, and Duke3D BUILD (MAPEDIT for Blood) for well over 2 1/2 years (Does that still make me a "Novice"?)

That depends on what you can do, not on how long you've been doing it.

Would you like to see a screen of the level I'm currently working on for Duke3D 1.5 on this thread, cyborg?

Why not just post it?
Upload it somewhere and use [img] tags to refer to the URL.

Falcon..
  1. <LI>You're not using the UBB Code link right. Please visit the UBB code page.
<LI>bmp files are NOT valid inline image files. Use something else - GIF/JPG are best for web viewing.

I would have thought you'd noticed after you posted that the statement 'do they look okay' is a bit retarded, seeing as there is nothing to look at except invalid tags.

So go learn how to use the UBB tags then convert the bmps to GIFS (frankly if you had suceeded in posting the bmp I would have killed you if I could for posting such an unnecessarially large image format, increasing the time I have to wait to download it much greater) and try again and then I can answer.
