Any way to bypass those settings to run in a "Dedicated Standalone" mode?

Try adding this to your shortcut's command line:

+set net_serverDedicated 1 +set si_map game/dmescher +spawnServer

Of course, you can specify any dm* map, but its important to set it to a valid one before calling spawnServer.

That looks more like he hasn't copied all of the .pak files... which would explain why that texture is missing.

that is exactly how its set up right now. well, and I have added -IP at the end of it specifying a particular ip address. but no matter how I try it wont load past the "type 2 3 and 10 TGA images supported" error.

and yes, i have all the .pk4 files uploaded. its stating its invalid or something.

Perhaps one or more of the PK4 files is corrupted? You might try uploading them again.
