Bite Me! Music Inspired by Prey
Now that you've all started to experience Prey, it's time to take it to the next level! Check out the newest addition to Prey's line up of critically acclaimed soundtracks - "Bite Me."

"Bite Me," available only at DirectSong, will get you pumped to kick some alien butt with brand new songs by After Midnight Project, MXPX, and Halifax, as featured in Prey. The album is a great mix of rock, punk, and electronica that also includes new music from Nick Murray, Reel Big Fish, Cicatrix, Opiate for the Masses, Amber Pacific, DJ X, Codemonkey, and others.

The music on "Bite Me" is truely inspired by Prey. Many of the songs actually contain samples from the game. All of the songs reflect Prey through combining Native American and Alien themes in the music or through the lyrics that portray Tommy and Jen's relationship.

Click here to download "Bite Me" now at DirectSong.com!

I'd like to hear these songs, but I'm not paying that much for lossy-encoded DRM-encrusted audio files.

I take it you've never listened to a Directsong release. -_-;
Directsong has damn good audio quality.

Re: Bite Me! Music Inspired by Prey
I listened to volume 1 of the soundtrack, and it's great quality, but for that price I feel like I'm being bent over without getting professionally printed artwork and discs. Sure, it's better than any other online service, but that hardly makes it worth purchasing anything from.

In addition, I'd like to be able to integrate this music into my collection, but I can't because I don't use WMP to play my music. I suppose I'll have to burn it and re-rip.

Check the flier/card that came with your LCE game. It should be in there. It has instructions about what to do while on DirectSong to enter in the correct information.

There are still those damn DRMs. I hate DRMs. Anykind of them. I hope, sincerly, that 3DRealms won't put bullshitstarforce into DNF DVD. Or anything that relates to starforce.

You can burn CDs from your WMP and then do whatever you want with the CD. As for audio quality, iTunes offers audio at 160 kbps, download.com has music at 192 kbps, and DirectSong offers audio at an industry high of 320 kbps. It will sound very close to CD quality audio (most people cannot tell the difference).

Last but not least, let the music be your final decision about purchasing. If you love it or think you'll love it, go ahead and make the purchase. It will last a long time. And for a compilation album like Bite Me, where most of the money goes to the different bands and artists involved, your 9 dollars goes a long way to support the bands as well.

Arrow Re: Bite Me! Music Inspired by Prey
Here's some more information from the album's producer about the tracks:
- "Take Me Home" is featured in the Credits in Prey.
- MXPX's new song "The Setting Sun" was written specifically for Prey. The brand new single is about Tommy and Jen and is found only at DirectSong and in the Prey Jukebox.
- "Anthem for Tonight" by Halifax is found in the Jukebox as well.
- 4 of the tracks contain audio samples from the game. Can you find them?
- "Intervention" which contains samples from Art Bell's audio clips from the game is a remix of the Prey Overture by Jeremy Soule.
- Reel Big Fish recorded "Cannibal" specifically for Bite Me.

If you like any of these tracks, let us know! Spread the word!!

I like a lot of the tracks. But especially Reel Big Fish's song. It takes me back to the 80s. I have to give it to Direct song for picking some good bands. the album comes together nicely and you can really sense a feeling of Prey within the music.

Thank you. The compilation features a little bit of music that everyone will like. Some punk rock, some normal rock, some electronica, and everything in between except country!

I thought directsong was for extra music for the game like with Guild Wars. Can this music be placed in Prey? What's the deal?

DirectSong offers both straight soundtracks only meant for listening to, and some music that will add to or replace (with a higher-quality version) the music that ships with the game. (Currently, Guild Wars is the only game supporting this.)

As far as I know, it can't be placed in Prey, but much of it is already available in the game.

Re: Bite Me! Music Inspired by Prey
well, I want to know what I am buying. I am interested in "Bite Me!", but without knowing what's there I am not getting it.
Now then, I have the free song offered, and it's nice, but I can't do anything with it. I can't burn it! (DRM locked) What's up with that?

Re: Bite Me! Music Inspired by Prey
Open one of the files (any song you downloaded) with wmp 9 or 10. Give it your directsong username and password and tell it you want a perminant license on that computer. Voila, the songs are yours and you can rip all the cds of them you wish. If this doesn't work, make sure that license updating is enabled in the player's options.

It would also be a good idea to enable license backup in wmp10 so you can back the license up.

Not all music you download from DirectSong is going to be burnable. The single is free, but meant as a freebie to sample. It's my impression that if you like what you hear and want the ability to burn it, get the album... burning options do come turned on w/ album downloads.

It's a good album, too. 1031982, how are you not able to see what's on the album? There's a full tracklisting and a sample of each track (ala Amazon.com) if you click on the track titles...

Honestly, I couldn't find it. Thanks for the link Jeron, now I need to spend MORE money! Yet, it will be worth it...
Anyway, the free single info is on a paper with the game.

Re: Bite Me! Music Inspired by Prey
I'd buy from directsong if it supported the Mac OS X operating system and safari.

I am also in agreement with it being in WMA format. Since MS won't release Windows Media Player 10 on anything less than XP (let alone OS X) and discontinued Windows Media Player altogether for Macs, I'm completely out of luck.

Re: Bite Me! Music Inspired by Prey
well, I am downloading now. As for running it on a Mac, why not get an old PC, and put Win 98 on it? That can run WMP10

Or heck, run Virtual PC (if you have a PPC Mac).

It would appear that it's no longer sold at DirectSong. I never say it any ware else unfortunately.
Heck, I went into my previous purchases, and there had it listed without the album picture. I downloaded it again as of a few minutes ago, and when I tried to play one of the songs I got a DRM message saying the fallowing : "Please go to www.directsong.com and download the latest version of your DirectSong soundtrack."
I went ahead and tried to play my original download and I get the same message!
In other words, I don't have access to that I paid for!

Fortunately, I am against DRM stuff, and the first thing I did was burn a copy of the album to CD< and rip it back to WMA for "archival" purposes. The I re-encoded it to MP3 for my MP3 player and I am still all good. I have not, and will not distribute it, but if I didn't effectively strip the DRM, I would have lost my LEGALLY purchased music!
