how come they didnt add a sprint button?
as i stated in another topic, i was playing doom 3 alot before this was released, so i was used to hitting the left trigger to sprint.

then i get prey and start to play it, and i kept hitting the left trigger to sprint, but i'd trigger the secondary weapon.

to me, i felt like the walking/running seemed alittle slow. maybe it was just because of playing doom 3.

your thoughts.

There are some areas where I hit my default "sprint" key when playing. It does feel odd not to have it. But the games pace as a whole, the environment, and features make it less neccesary.

hmm. Sprinting has it's ups and downs. It can really mess with gameplay if you're not careful about it. I actually think that people run too fast in multiplayer, but too slow in single player. I 'unno.

I'm in the middle of my third play-through and I STILL hit "R" to reload my weapon after every fight.

Doom 3 did have sprint. In fact, on the hell levels, you got infinite sprint.

And sprint isn't in-or-out based on the graphics engine. Hell, it's an easy enough mod to make yourself.

There was no sprint in Quake IV though. It it worked out fine. Personally, I like not having to worry about sprint. Plus, the fast walking is slightly more realistic, really. Nobody constantly runs, they'd get tired out, fast.

Not that it was put in for realism, as realism isn't exactly Prey's number one goal. But it's something to think about anyway.

I'd prefer to just have a decent movement speed, but if the normal movement speed is as slow as Prey's I'd like to at least have a sprint function with limited stamina.

Same here, and limited stamina also removes the infinate sprint problem. (sprint+ limited staming have been in games a long time now iirc).

The game is already on the short side. If they let you sprint all over the place it'd be over in a couple hours.

Bring up the console and type in pm_walkspeed 210

Default is 180, 210 is a good little boost.

One more reason to get a good PC. (j/k)

A sprint button would have been nice, but the game played well as it is.

Re: how come they didnt add a sprint button?
At it's soul, I see Prey as a console FPS. It was designed around console controls. It has that slower movement speed, relatively static enemies, and even with the upside-down-whacky architecture, you rarely have to aim up or down that much to hit enemies.

Given that emphasis, you already have analog moving on the joystick, and you don't really have a spare finger readily accessible for sprint after secondary/primary attack..

They could make it so that the analog extreme positions use up some 'sprint' but I think having to constantly baby the controls like that so you don't get fatigued would annoy most players.
