There's a good reason for not putting HTML online - abuse is the reason for not having it. Otherwise you end up with a lot of crap.

I don't get what the big deal about HTML is. It can add nifty effects to messages, and people can post just as much junk without using it as they can by using it. If it gets out of hand you can always ban people or edit messages with problem-causing HTML errors.

It's good (in my opinion

) to have HTML enabled on EZBoards because URL links don't automatically open in a new window like they do with UBBs, so where permitted, I use <a href="...." target=_blank>...</a> instead of [link]...[/link]

Well, at least you don't allow users to post embedded scripts as that causes really problems. However, on a board with HTML enable, you'll still get users using huge, blinking text and also embedding digusting/obscene images.

UBB code is nice in that it allows some mark up but prevents abuse.

Aaaanyway.. Justin, are you Dopefish Justin on the PublicCKForum? And still, why do people need to go to a different message board? If you're who I'm assuming you are you've probably been around the Keen boards too often, where they get a new one each week... or used to at least.

I personally don't see anything wrong with this board, but I haven't been here in ages and probably entered the wrong password... I guess I didn't since everyone's reading this now, nevermind.

Yeah, it's the same Justin. I'm mentioned in two places on dopefish.com too! Once for recovering Tom Hall's Dopefish sketches, and once for my Dopefish font. As for the board, I think my real motive was to have one with a moderator that was actually around (no offense, Joe).

Also, the HTML abuse thing is a reference to a thread back on the old Dopefish Temple messageboard, just so nobody thinks I'm promoting HTML abuse.
