There are many ports for Duke3D with multiplayer support if you ask the right people here.

I wouldn't mind an official release for GFWL but I am happy with EDuke32.

There is no point. As for breathing, I don't like it but I do it to stay alive. It'd be cool if I didn't have to breathe. Perhaps I could live underwater then.

Since the release of the Duke3d source I have strongly yearned for a 'ZDeamon' for our beloved game. Yet it has fallen to the side in order to incorporate (what I consider) useless graphical updates, while the most celebrated part of the game (and longest enduring quality) has been left to rot.

I'm sorry Fibbles, but the multiplayer connection options for the ports for Duke right now are terrible.

If 3DR ported the game over I would pay $30 for the Xbox Live version of Duke 3d to exist on PC. Just alone on the matchmaking options, choosing a server from a list and being able to hop into the server at anytime I want and leave anytime I want.

Heck, I'm willing to pay $500 for a talented, proven coder to make a solid ZDeamon style engine and server browser for Duke.

I've said it many times before, Duke3D PC needs to have a standard for playing online. ZDeamon, etc. Although there's not a lot of Duke3d ports the choice simply kills duke3d online for PC.

Not that I have a 360 or anything, but I was under the impression that the XBLA version's multiplayer does not work like this. It's still sync based, all players still have to be present at the start of the game, et cetera.

I don't have a 360 either, but I was hoping (expecting?) this aspect of the port would have been updated. I still believe strongly that we need a 'ZDuke' so to say, for PC users. Something similar along the same lines for ROTT would be nice as well.

I hate breathing. If I didn't have to breath I could live on the Moon! That would be awesome... except I wouldn't be able to play Duke Nukem 3D on my super awesome XBox 360!

I understand what he means. I've tried both Dukonnector and DukesterX and it's just luck to get into a game. I've only gotten into a few.

Hamachi has always worked well for me, but it's too much of a hassle.

A Steam duke 3d arcade launch, to avoid piracy and to improve easy playability online...

They have no real reason. They just hate console because there presence is threating to them for some reason. So they always go on the defensive and start yelling and crying when a pc vs. console debate comes up.

They could just be die hard PC fanboys. PC gaming is like video tape players and consoles are the dvd players. They still sell video tapes but more sales are into DVD.

There will always be fanboys. Try to argue with one of them you literally be baffled at some of the stupidest (is that a word) things they say to make there beloved product sound better than other ones.

You will always get silly vs. debates like:

Coke vs pepsi
PC vs console
football vs baseball
picard vs kirk
porn vs marriage
religion vs science

The list goes on. Lesson is...let people like what they want and leave them be, even if there product is obviously inferior.
