Maybe people from the game industry should make a movie.
Sure that hasn't be done before. Sami Järvi and folks...

I also like Tarantino (I've seen all the others but KillBill1), but i just don't trust him that much.
There must not be any changes in Max or the others.

Re: Max In A Movie?
Truth be told none of the BIG directors would accept to do this project because they are afraid of the consequences if the movie doesn't go good. There are two directors who I think would do this.Brian Singer (X-MEN 1 & 2) and Len Wiseman (Underworld).

For a director, I want someone who can capture the action, violence, and humor as well as the Noir aspect. I'd go for Brian Helgeland (Payback) or Clint Eastwood who has shown a pretty good range.

Mona: Though Jennifer Garner looks pretty dead on, her voice doesn't do Mona for me. Uma Thurman (she's a bit tall).
I read that Helgeland failed when he was directing Payback. About one third of the movie was reshot under Mel Gibson's direction. Gibson also changed parts of the script, I think for the better. I still think Helgeland is a very talented writer.

I don't see the resemblance between Garner and Mona. Maybe Courtney Cox looks a little like Mona but I don't know about her acting skills.

Didn't know that about Helgeland. Agreed he has great writing skills .

The headshot of Garner that someone posted earlier in the thread to me looked a lot like Mona. (except perhaps Mona is a bit older). I think Mona's face is a little more full (like Garner) than Courtney Cox's.

Perhaps Sharon Stone would make a good Mona also

Another thought: even though I don't like Jack Black very much, I think he'd make a pretty good Lupino or even a Vinnie. He doesn't resemble either, but I can just see him playing either part personality wise.

Re: Max In A Movie?
Sharon Stone was awesome in Basic Instinct, a classic femme fatale. She's still a great actress but already 45 which might be a little too old for jumping around guns blazing.
As this thread is speculation only, I agree, a younger Sharon Stone could be Mona.
Somebody mentioned Bogart, why not bring in Lauren Bacall as Mona. The dynamics between Max and Mona is just like Bogart and Bacall in The Big Sleep (1946).

Lupino: I'd like to see Vincent D'Onofrio as Jack Lupino.

Aronofsky or Scorsese ( he knows New York)

John Woo has sucked since Face Off and I think the brothers Matrix should have realized Matrix 2 was horrible and just cut it right off there, I don't even dare to see Matrix 3, I fear it might be even worse than nr 2. What a way to destroy a fine brand, I bet they regret saying how much their input influenced the game now too. I never thought I'd see a movie with so much action that was so boring, and if you haven't got a clue how to continue a story, for the love of God, don't do the story yourself... jeeez... now back on topic., Christian Bale for Max... he rocks

I think I'm one of the few that actually enjoyed Matrix 3. I didn't like Matrix 2 as much. It probably helped that I went not thinking much, knowing they would never be able to duplicate the first movie. I did enjoy the third one a lot. It had some good religious references and some nice action sequences which really reminded me of Return of the Jedi. And I'm glad they didn't have a 45 minute dance scene like in Matrix 2.

I will say I think they could have done tons more with the story, but I didn't not not like Matrix 2 and 3.

Director wise:
As far as Robert Rodriguez, I do like him (and I really enjoyed Spy Kids too but I don't think his directing style is right for Max Payne.

Although I don't know if he can do action, what about David Mamet? (Spanish Prisoner, Heist). He'd get the Noir down pretty well. Since this all hypothetical, I would have to guess that there'd have to be two directors. One for the noir, one for the action (maybe Rodriguez and Mamet combined).

And I think his wife Rebecca Pidgeon (lead female in both Spanish Prisoner and Heist) is really attractive too Saucy

If she buffed up Linda-Hamilton-T2 like, I would like to see her as Mona because she reads her husband's stuff really well.

I can't believe no one has suggested David Schwimmer.

I mean seriously.
