I can't help it, since I've been a fan of Apogee since I was a kid, and this was my favorite internet forum back in the day. I try to stop by every now and then.

...though apparently the last time I stopped by was on January 15, 2010, so apparently my definition of "now and then" could use a little work, haha.

I know! It's ridiculous!

Great to see you're still here though, man. There was a long time that it seemed like you'd disappeared - er, well, before I disappeared, haha.

Speaking of which, even though I haven't actually joined up on the Gearbox forums, I lurked around there a couple of months ago in a creepy manner, and saw several posts referencing "pig cop strippers" (!!!) followed by someone asking something along the lines of "Why do so many people talk about this whole pig cop stripper thing? Where did it come from?" Made me grin.

Got a friend request by email (which surprised the hell out of me) so I came back to see what's up. Show up maybe twice a year for nostalgia's sake.

I recall the days when I could sit here, at any time of the day, and not be able to reply to all the threads faster than they were being posted to. It was like an arms race of post counts. Not so any longer. I'm genuinely surprised to still see certain faces I recognize after all this time.

Love Re: What are you doing here?
Well ... this place is empty now, but right now it actually feels like a blessing that the release of DNF was taken over of by Gearbox.

I don't know what the Gbx forums were like before DNF, but along with celebrating Duke's release, I would like to propose a toast for Gearbox for not letting these forums become overrun with the pre-teen pissing contest that you have to wade through in the DNF section over there right now to find a few readable posts.

I've heard voices claiming that Gbx will eventually come out with "better" Duke games than DNF. Well, good luck. But here's an even harder challenge:
Can they create a forum where I can stand spending the next 14 years waiting for it?

This is home.

Yes...the people at the Gearbox forums just don't treat it like home at all...it's more of a war zone is what it is over there. Now THIS message board is home within home, and is a good place to have peaceful conversations among the PC gaming community without tearing each other apart. This is the way gaming message boards should be. Less stress and less fanboyist rants. We all get along, and nothing can take that away...we've been really tight-knit. Like to keep it that way.

I don't consider this place to be "home", but I do hope that this place will feel less like a sinking ship now that DNF is out. Tbh ever since 2009 this place felt like it could stop existing at any moment, that feeling's a bit gone for me now..
