Stargunner soundtrack released
To start the year off, we have a small file we'd like to bring to your attention. It's the Stargunner Soundtrack. Back in 1996, we released a shooter named Stargunner. It's since been discontinued, but lately we have had several requests for the music from it, so here it is in mp3 format. Go and grab your copy of the file over at Fileshack - it's free!

Hey Joe, thanks for releasing this! I love Lee's work, and this is a really awesome soundtrack. Forgive me if I say that I don't even remember you guys releasing Stargunner -- I must have been too busy chatting with the 3DR guys on the CompuServe APOGEE forum at 3 a.m. waiting for Duke 3D registered to ship -- but the music sure is top notch.

Thanks for the tunes!

AHhhHHh Stargunner had awesome music... that cool module/tracker crunchy sound. more games need music like that still. and more games need to be horizontal/vertical scrolling shooters!

I really hope you will release the Shadow Warrior soundtrack too someday.

By the way, where's track 1?
A bug in Spend More Money (The Shop) at 00:22?

No - we still retain copyright on them as was stated, and our standard rule about usage of our materials applies.

Did you not know it's on there? It's mentioned in a readme in the \goodies directory.

What I meant was it was nice to share the music for those who haven't heard it!

Re: Stargunner soundtrack released
Hey, Joe! Long time lurker, first time poster! I was wondering when this soundtrack would be released! Now I have another question. I felt this soundtrack would eventually be released, only I thought it was going to be the XM files themselves (a-la the Terminal Velocity MOD soundtrack). Can an XM version still be considered?

I only ask because I heard a few bugs in the conversion to MP3, namely in the Title Track and the Spend More Money track. I have an XM player, and I at least want to hear the tunes as originally intended! It's only for personal use, like the MP3's! Whaddya say?

P.S. Please forgive me for bringing up a comatose topic...

The MP3s could've simply been ripped from the CD version of the game, whereas the XM files are probably in the hands of the composer. Obviously, I'm totally guessing.

I've mentioned my XM ripping utility before (I wrote it a couple of years back). It looked through any data, ripping out XM files. Unfortunately, the samples used by the XM data (in Stargunner) are not stored where you'd expect, so the ripped files are sampleless. I never did manage to find the samples, but then, I didn't look very hard. I had the CD anyway, so I had little motivation.

Ah... Thanks for the response, Crosma! I wouldn't have figured that scheme, keeping the music sheet and the instruments separated, just to protect the music! Still... I was curious enough to ask. *The propellerhead in himself still keeps fingers crossed...*
