Re: a problem with Bio Menace
The Bio Menace game (running with DosBox) works fine in my home laptop. a Gateway MD2614U. Os Win 7 home 32 bit. The smaller laptop (I take with me when I travel) an Acer Aspire One C725 laptop also OS Win 7 home 32bit. The Acer laptop works realy good. Except for the Bio Menace debug cmd's below. I tried the following cmd's C + A + T then enter 1st. > C + O + D, and a prompt will appear asking you to enter in a code Type in 91827 and press enter. pressing J + I + M + Space. In the Gateway the debug code works fine. But in the Acer laptop the debug cmd's simply WILL NOT work period. Does anyone have any ideas why the codes won't work in the Acer laptop.

------------------------
Before doing the debug keys activation press C + A + T then enter 1st. Now press C + O + D, and a prompt will appear asking you to enter in a code Type in 91827 and press enter. This activates the key combination required to enable the debugging keys. Enable the debugging keys by pressing J + I + M + Space. The timing of pressing J + I + M + Space is critical. Hold J + I + m down about a half section before pressing the space bar. Then let all keys up at the same time. If you get the timming correct you will see a box pop up saying "debug keys active". If you don't get the "debug keys active" box, try the J + I + M + space bar again. If the timming is even a little off the "debug keys active" box will not pop up and the F10 cheats in the table below won't work. After about a few trys with repeating the J + I + M +space bar and the "debug keys active" box won't come up then start over with the C + O + D. The debug keys activation will work. It works for me.

The F10 cheats in the table below can now be used.

Note that the C + O + D keys can be used in this edited version of the registered version.

Keys Result
F10 + B Change border colour
F10 + C Active/inactive object count
F10 + D Record a demo (or if recording a demo, save it)
F10 + E End/finish level (will execute TED5 again if run from TED5)
F10 + G God mode on/off (invincibility)
F10 + I Free items (no message displayed) - 90 bullets, one clip, 99 grenades (green only), 99 keys, 99 access cards(?), all the crystal shards, all the items and an extra life.
F10 + J Jump cheat (in limited 'Keen Dreams' mode)
F10 + M Display memory usage
F10 + N No clipping
F10 + P Pause game (unlike the Pause key, doesn't display a message and leaves the music going.)
F10 + S Slow motion
F10 + T Sprite test: Tile information (use left/right arrows to view all tiles/sprites)
F10 + V Add extra VBLs (Vertical Blanking Loop? Waits for this many CRT retraces in each game loop)
F10 + W Warp to a level
F10 + Y Show hidden passages
F10 + Z Kill player (only if God Mode is off)
Miscellanous codes

I had the same problem when I tried to use my HP laptop to get to level 10 of episode 2 to create my #kickassmoment video. I ended up using the tedlevel cheat.

Anyway, I think it's your laptop's keyboard fault. If you use a USB-keyboard it might work.

On my website I wrote

Press and hold J + I + M, press and hold SPACEBAR and then release either J or M. The message "Debug keys active!" should appear.

How can it be a key board problem? I ran a check on every key on the key board using notepad. Every key is fine. I even did J+I+M at the same time and all 3 letters popped up.

Re: a problem with Bio Menace
That link in the quote gave me the clue as to whats going on. Yes the keyboard works fine. But the keyboard can only handle up to 3 keys at a time been pressed, the 4th one doesn't get seen. So I press J + I + M so far so good. While holding down J + I + M then press space bar. Space bar is not seen as been pressed. I tested it with an online keyboard tester. I also found out that this laptop doesn't have any indicator lights for when number key lock, scroll lock and cap's lock are turned on. which add's to the problem. I am going to see if I can trade it in for something else. Or sell the Acer laptop and go back to the big bulky other laptop (an older Dell os XP Pro). The Dell does does everything I need to be done. I got the smaller Acer because it was easer to carry in my back pack.

Re: a problem with Bio Menace
I traded in that Acer laptop for a HP Presario C769US laptop. And I will be dang. THIS laptop has the same problem with the keyboard also. I push J + I + M it is all happy. I push space bar while holding the J I M down and it don't like it. Is there anything I can do to the keyboard (like add a diode) to it to make it work?

If you're running the game through DOSBox, find another key you're not using that works, e.g. Scroll Lock, and remap it to the spacebar. Then you can press J+I+M+ScrollLock and the game will think you're pressing J+I+M+Space.

Or ask someone nicely to patch the game .exe so that debug mode is always on, then you won't have to press any keys at all!

Re: a problem with Bio Menace
Malvineous I fig out how to open DosBox's keyboard remapper prog. I tried binding the Scroll Lock key to the SpaceBar key. Then I did the "J+I+M+ScrollLock" many times and the debug keys box didn't popup. Also question. Once the keyboard is remaped. Does DosBox remember the new keyboard map setup or does it need to be loaded in? An extra question. Why when the scroll key is bind to the spacebar and the scroll key is taped, why doesn't the game info box pop up, that normlly pops up when the spacebar is taped?
