30 Days of NIGHT.
Ever watched it.if not leave.anway im gonna do my best to make a level that resembles the village in 30 days of night.i would LOVE support on this, ideas...anything.i was going to TRY to make some new art files to replace the aliens with vampires. THAT WOULD TAKE THE EDGE OFF! Thank you for all you have to offer. i wanna make this one scarier than red 3!

That was the worst movie I've ever seen. Seriously. The first scene where the vampires start talking to each other is so ridiculous that the whole theater was laughing its ass off, even though it was supposed to be scary as hell or something.

Sorry, but its not that shit. If the movie go 50%, it actually is a movie to see. If it was the worst movie like you said, it would've gotten a 5%.

Haven't seen it yet, but I'm pretty sure Rotten Tomato is spot on.

Since I am no modder myself there's little I can help you with, except suggesting that you find a copy of the source material, the 30 Days of Night - Graphic Novel and find inspiration from that artwork.

If nothing more it should be at least an entertaining read for you (especially since the film sucked), but if you were to somehow emulate the artwork, now that would be insanely brilliant.

YOU KNOW WHAT! YOU are entitled to the opinion.

But Rotten Tomatoes are reviewed by people and critics and majority of the people rated it 68% which is good.

It may not change your opinion, but its definitely useful to those that want a general opinion from the mass instead of lame critics which even rated the movie pretty well.

It was like most of the people that hated Land of the Dead, and saying thos Star Bursts and Zombies actually thinking is not right, yet they are questioning the reasoning of the original zombie director George Romero. Its like saying the people know more about the Dead universe than the original creator. Since it was a good movie, you can see that it was rated pretty well (68% on rotten).

Examples of reviews of movie that suck. 10,000bc. Nuff said. I like the film but the reviews are spot on. Never seen a review that wasn't spot on.

i am a better .ART ist than i am a mapper.but ive only made a few and i realy suck.
But i just am overjealos at the guy who made red2,3,4 ect.
but i have made a failed pistol replacement if you wanna see it.
just rename it tiles009 and put it in your dn3d folder.but youl probobly tell me it sucks so go ahead.

Well at least you've done something and wherever you are now you can only get better.
Most of the people who tell you that you suck are either smug bastards or the kind of people who sit on their arses all day doing nothing but criticizing others. Don't listen to them.

[EDIT]I'll post my impressions of your gun when I return from vacation on the weekend. Forgot to reinstall Duke3D on my Laptop.

Ironically, I just saw the thing not too long ago. I'm with Plagman, it was the kind of movie you'd see on the SciFi channel. And the ending just topped the cake. The whole thing was so predictable and cheesy there was no suspense at all. Yet another reason not to listen to the critics.

Regardless, I could see a Duke map working well... More of a DM level than an SP level, though. Good luck with it!

Don't be. Have you ever played Red 1? It's pretty mediocre, for the most part.

An artist can't start out with a masterpiece, you've got to work up from crap to excellence. Another example of this is other mappers like Numan, Sang and Devastator.

Mr. Line. at AMC made the map... Apperently he will be working on Red 6 sometime soon.

Red 5 was the best map ever made IMO, but that is soon to change...

hey muizaki i tried out your gun and it's not so bad at all maybe a wierd color but you can fix that
and at first i thought duke is holding the gun a bit low but when i started shooting it looked like the mariachi (antonio banderas) in desperados, you know when he shoots he whips the gun
so i think it looks pretty good

The thing is. The greatest human emotion is Fear and the next is hate. Even though there may be a ton of good points about something. That one small bad thing will overwhelm the good. Why? Because we are human and are flawed. Even if it may be a good film, one small thing will pop the atom bomb in your head for no apparent reason.

Thats why I have it when people hate a film (even though they problem can name off a couple of things more than the bad things.)

Films are rated solely on one problem. if that was the case, every movie would suck. Thats why people rate films on the overall composition.

sorry for being gone for awhile.but the truth is Duke nukem has barely any snow textures.
im going for a old dark western town.
any ideas for music?

Snow textures can easily be made. Copy and paste basically. But I suggest learning how to edi .art files. One you learn, it becomes easy squeezy lemon peezy.

okay so i just played this. I am not quite sure where there is 1/4 of a map here as it took be about 14 seconds to go through the entire thing, so i guess your map playtime would be about a minute. Anyways the map really doesn't make any sense...you start out underground in a what i think is supposed to be a mine? if so how are underground with really no way in or out? did the mine collapse or something? and I had to god mode just to survive the beginning. Then you get outside and there is no sense of proportion or attention to any sort of details....these were just my first thoughts

even in the begining i have things to add. but DONT PRESS THE TNT BUTTON.
and i dont want to tell anybody how to go through it but. when you step in the light theres an earthquake that clears your path

Okay, I just played through it.. if you can call it that.
At the beginning I managed to use my pipebomb on the TnT, only to realize that it was a waste. So I tryed to get out anyway. I ended up squishing myself. Then I fell for the TnT button. At which point I took the god mode all weapons route. It took 7 rpg's to find where I was originally supposed to throw that pipe bomb. Anyway after I finally got out I explored the map. As Diehard52 said it lacks proportion. Make the outside A LOT bigger, I don't know if there are tree textures in duke but if you can somehow create a forest that would add to the feel. Possibly one you could walk through. It would add more potential.
I thought the duke torso was quite unneeded and all those tiny under water passages didn't exactly lead to much. Also something invisible tryed to claw me near the house. But I rpged it..

Now for ideas, The forest previously mentioned. More buildings, and make the mine go a lot deeper into the ground. Also it's very bright for a mine. Add some dark segments.
I got "missing sound" files at random, so you might wanna look into that.
I haven't seen the movie so I don't really know what happens. But what I do know is that the map is really missing a goal, the more complicated to get to the better, Key cards may seem out of place so if you can place buttons that unlock doors that might work.

Thats all for now, hopefully you continue production soon.


P.S. Personally I'd prefer a HUGE Dracula style castle. (thunder storm outside) filled with secret passage ways, werewolves, or any other monsters you can think of. ..Maybe I just want to see a set of medieval armor come to life. Either way it would probably have more potential, if your aiming to make a horror map.

Thank you for you concern ramen. anyway key card was put there so you could ge through.but im having trouble whereas i lost my cpu not to long ago. and like EVERYONE who makes maps,procrastonation.i found my old n64 and i have duke 64. awesome game.
but continueing production.and adding shading
