hey guys,
ive changed it up a bit this time. ive added dukes voice!
the next step is to tweak the drums, and re-record the guitar.
i think i have progressed quite well from my first one, dont you think?

After listening to your very first post, I was like 'Its okay, but it needs A LOT of work'. I was set to say it. Mainly consisted with the fact that he background audio was stereo and the guitar wasn't. It had an awkward sound.

Now that I swarmed through the four pages, I see your latest work and.....well.....like IT WAS AWESOME! I REALLY LIKE IT! You really evolved.

Yes I was a good version with the Duke Nukem theme. Really base and good drumming and great sound effects even listened to your originally one too.

Needs some keyboard tunes. to level out the base. did you get a band or do all the music yourself.Lee Jackson did grabbag.

one thought though, i still think that the machine-gun-like beats should be slightly changed. the rest is very good though

Quite good. But I just kept waiting fot the high pitched part, and was a bit dissapointed when I found out there was none... But apart from thath, it's very nice

You can also make music on your PC or Mac. Then copy it to a CDR to play.

i did the drums with fl-studio, and recorded with my pod-xt direct into audacity.

Wow I found a link to the fl-studio page you can download a demo.

might try some tunes I am pretty average not as brill as you bobthefish.

I wrote a duke nukem song might try to record something with it using that demo thing don't know how to post it. Another thing How do you record your voice to go over the music.

first off, i bought fl studio so i could save everything. (just so everything isnt just in one shot)
then, i put down the drums with the FPC plug-in.
then, i recorded the guitar in audacity and imported it into fl.
and for the vocals,
i converted the original .vox files to .wav and loaded them as a sample into fl.
if you drag the sample to the bottom of the playlist, you can move em around visually.

Not a bad draft of E1M1,the drums need a little adjustment (perhaps the pitching, or just a different drum, seems a little too low for the pacing) Other then that awesome work!

Requests eh? How about a "heroic" sounding remix of E1M9. Every remix i've heard of it totally takes the fire out of it (I swear I remember a friggin ambient mix of it...NO!)

my piano cover was just me sitting down figuring out the chords as i went. no midi involved.

all by ear, tho my really early ones were from the midi. but that was when i was a total newb to the song.

my song is derrived from vertexguy's tabs. its defintly different after what i did to it.

i am planning a new cover, this time using not just guitar and drums.

You don't have to stick to grabbag you know. There's other Duke 3D tunes to explore. I'm sure bar music, streets, stalker or waterworld would sound great once updated and extended in electronica.

Of course, you would have to start new threads for those as they'd be off-topic here.

ok, ive come up with a total overhaul of my take on grabbag. im not sure how long its going to take me to do the drums, or when i will have time to do it, but when i do, its gunna sound really good.

ive switched from standard tuning to drop B. this gives the song more power (in my opinion).
when i get around to doing it, you will see alot more of my personal interpretation. some riffs will be changed, some wont. i cant wait to actually do this one, but it will actually have to wait, as i have a cover of the metal gear theme in the works.
